Interview With A Blogger - GM Roper
Louisiana Conservative: Welcome to the inaugural "Interview With a Blogger". Today, I am with GM Roper of GM's Corner. Say Hi, GM.
George Roper: Hi Jeffery, thanks for having me on. Or should I have said Hi GM?
LC: Ha ha. Let's start with your blog
GMR: OK!
LC: How did you get started blogging?
GMR: I was an avid fan (still am) of a number of blogs and got introduced to Marc Cooper's blog. After lurking there for several months I started commenting about the conservative viewpoint to his liberal one and soon we became friends. Marc encouraged me to start blogging in September of '04 and I started my blog in November of that year.
LC: Have you been at your current location ever since you started?
GMR: Oh no... I started out with blogspot, then moved to my own dot com and was there for a little over a year. When I got lung cancer early this year, it looked like my blogging days were over because of the expense and I was invited to join the Munuvian's. I moved to mu.nu in March or April of this year and have been there ever since.
LC: Blogs do have a tendency to move don't they? I notice that you often blog about politics, but what specific issue that really gets your adrenaline going more than any other?
GMR: Well, I try to mix in some photography and humor, but conservative politics has always been my forte. I guess if any one issue were the one that claims most of my attention it would be the war against the islamofascists. I'm currently working on a post I've tentatively titled "I Am A Warmonger."
LC: I know it may seem like an obvious answer, but what makes that issue more important?
GMR: Well, it is both obvious and subtle. Obvious in that we are at war, not with a state, but with an ideology. One that cares not for anyone or anything but their own pitiful point of view that you are either with them or you will die. The subtle part comes from how do you fight an ideology? That is one of the reasons I think why we in the United States have sort of lost our will. We can't see progress like we could see in WWII or even in Korea.
LC: It does seem kind of odd that we call ourselves the 'home of the brave' while we act so scared of everything.
GMR: I'm not sure if it is scared of, or an unwillingness to "offend" others. It is almost like political correctness is an ally of islamofascism. For example, the 6 imams that were taken off the plane a week or so ago. They castigated us for not "understanding" but the reality is that we did understand their actions, they didn't want to be passangers, they wanted to cause a scene.

LC: I'm going to play the devil's advocate here. I'm a peace advocate. Respond to my allegations
GMR: Go for it
LC: Bush started this war for oil because he has a personal vendetta for his daddy
GMR: First off, typically like a peace advocate, the words you chose are indicative of the left. Bush doen't have a personal vendetta for his daddy, though he may have a personal vendetta for Saddam for plotting to kill his daddy. That is the difference. Besides, if the issue were truly about oil, which it patently is not, we could get a lot more oil by buying it... it would have been much cheaper. Two, there is absolutely no evidence that we are benefiting from the control of Iraqi oil. If we were, do you think that gas prices would have shot up two dollars a gallon or so after Katrina?
LC: "Iraq had no connection to 9-11"
GMR: No connections except for training Al Qaeda, no connections except for supporting terrorism, no connections except for attempting the assasination of a United States President and of course, with Al Q. in Iraq, they have no connection with Iraq.
LC: "Iraq is America's biggest blunder."
GMR: Along side with the USS Cole, the Twin Towers, Embassies in Kenya and Tanzania, the Kohbar towers and the Marine Barracks. How long does the United states have to allow terroristic acts against it's interests to strike back. Have we made mistakes? Sure, name one war where we haven't. No war plan survives first contact with the enemy. Lastly, I might mention that although the road to hell is paved with good intentions, so is the road back. We have a duty, difficult though it be, to see this through to fight islamofascism down to the wire.
LC: "Well the whole world hates us now for our go it alone policy."
GMR: Color me worried about what others think. Look, if Germany doesn't like what we do, let's pull our troops out [of Germany]... whoops, when we talked about that all of a sudden we were their best friends. The world is flat out wrong and if we allow "opinion" to dictate how we act in our own best interests, we deserve what we get. Besides, we aren't alone.
LC: No Liberal argument would be complete, of course, without "I still think George Bush is the dumbest President in the history of the United States."
GMR: Yep, dumb enough to graduate from college, dumb enough to learn to fly one of the most difficult interceptors in the Air Force inventory and dumb enough to get a master's degree. I get so damn sick of hearing that. When the Democrats think he is dumb, but he turns around and whips them at most every situation, they obviously don't get it. Like many liberals, they mistake the ability to speak with erudition and is further evidence of their intolerance. Of course, Bush has done some awfully dumb things, but so has smarty pants Kerry. Kerry acts awfully dumb for being so damn "smart".
LC: Let's not forget that this President was dumb enough to steal two elections from the Democrats. But let's shift gears here. Let's talk about the darkest moment of your life.
GMR: There have been several dark moments.
LC: The most recent one, your bout with Cancer.
GMR: Oh, that one... ok, fire away!

LC: First off, how was it discovered and what was your reaction?
GMR: Reaction = OH SHIT!!!! Having said that, I injured my left knee in February of '05 and had several appointments with the docs before finally deciding to get surgery in January of this year. During routine chest X-Ray and other lab work prior to surgery, they found the tumor.
LC: Isn't that how most cancer is found, through other examinations?
GMR: Yes it is, if I had had the surgery in the summer of '05, it would have been too soon, in the summer of '06 too late. I am one lucky fellow... I guess God isn't done with me yet.
LC:Well I am one who agrees with God on this one.
GMR: Thank you.
LC: I often hear people say that if they get cancer, they won't go through radiation or chemotherapy. What would you tell them?
GMR: It depends, everyone has their own tolerance level. I have a strong desire to live, not at any cost you understand, but to live and my docs told me that surgery and chemo was the route to go. It was tough, I'll not kid you on that point. The chemo makes you weak, you lose your appetite, lose weight, get nauseated etc. But, it was only 6 months of misery. I've had college professors that were harder to take for four months and I survived that too.
Then, I had a terrific support system in place, family, co-workers, friends, church members and of course bloggers like you who helped raise some dough to help offset the cost of the chemotherapy. At the time, your sermons were a God-send and I mean that truthfully.
LC: Thank you. Many people don't like to think of Cancer. In fact, I think most people think Cancer is going to happen to the other guy. Why is that and what would you tell people about Cancer?
GMR: Cancer is a disease, nothing more. One oncologist told me that if you live long enough, you will have cancer of some type. This is especially true of men and prostate cancer. We all have, from childhood on, a myth of invincibility, that we are "bullet proof" as it were. In psychological terms, this myth is really necessary or we would never go out of doors. There is, unfortunately, a large number of diseases etc., that we are prone too, many we cause ourselves. I smoked for almost 40 years thinking it would happen to the other guy, only to find out that I was one of the "other guys." But you can also be a health nut such as Dr. Helen Smith, Glenn Reynold's wife who exercised daily, watched her weight etc and still had an almost fatal heart attack at age 37.
By the way, Dr. Helen took the time to make several comments on my blog when I did my cancer posts. She is quite a lady.
LC: How long have you been in remission?
GMR: I finished my chemo-therapy in August of this year, a CT scan 10 days later showed no cancer as did a P.E.T. scan a month after that. But, the doc's said that they think they got all of the cancer with the surgery and so I'm going to say tumor free since February 6, '06 which was when they took out half of my right lung. SO, cancer free, but only 3/4's lung power. Not a bad trade if you think about it. I've been told that I have an 80-85% chance of making the official 5 year survival time (after which you can consider yourself "cured") so, I've got a little more than 4 years to go. I had a CT scan yesterday morning and will get the results next week.
LC: I know I'm not alone when I say you're in my prayers.
GMR: Thanks my friend. That warms my heart in ways that others not in the same position can never know. You have been both a friend and a big part of my recovery and I am greatful you are in my life.
LC: You're welcome. Let's talk about blogs.
GMR: You bet!

LC: Other than your own blog, who's blog stands out the most to you?
GMR: Oh, wow, there are so many... I read about 30 a day, every day and not always the same one. Michael Totten, Marc Cooper, Dr. Sanity, Instapundit, Stop the ACLU, Big Dog, Cao, the Kossacks (just for laughs of course), your blog, Publius Pundit, Gates of Vienna, The Anchoress, Ogre's Politics and Views, The Real Ugly American, Texas Fred, Euphoric Reality, so, so many. Not all every day, but every day all are a significant part of my reading pleasure. I seldom read my own entries... I put too much into writing them. I read Woody's though.
LC: Those are some good blogs, of course I'm a little biased towards mine.
GMR: You should be. As I am, towards mine that is.
LC: Texas Fred is really becoming a blog to read, he's up for nomination as Best New Blog of 2006?
GMR: That's right. Doc Sanity is up for best individual blog, Stop The ACLU is up for best first 250 blogs... lot's of good blogs up for voting and I urge all my friends to vote daily, just like the democrats.
LC: It's legal to vote early and often.
GMR: In fact, I'm going to post on that first thing in the morning.
LC: What makes Texas Fred's blog stand out most to you?
GMR: Fred is a very good friend of mine, we have been friends since he started blogging and he has been a guest on my internet radio show GM's Corner airing at 9:00 PM Central Time on Wide Awakes Radio (thanks for the opportunity for the plug). But, I digress. Fred has a unique point of view that is just an enjoyable read, even if you don't always agree with him. He was born in Louisana and raised in Texas and that makes it unique if nothing else
LC: Texas Fred really does deserve a round of applause for becoming a finalist. I remember when I was a finalist for best new blog of 2004 where I got my pant beat off me, but it's such a wonderful feeling to get that kind of recognition.
GMR: It is a neat thing. Of course, no one ever made GM's corner a finalist in the Weblog Awards... on the other hand, I was King of the Blogs three times running and retired as a "Dynasty."
LC: Another Blog that you mentioned was Dr. Sanity, a cute play off of her name. Tell me about the connection between you and her.
GMR: Pat was one of the very first blogs that I read besides Michael Totten and Marc Cooper. I sent her an email once I started my blog and let her know that I too was in the mental health profession and that I shared her outlook on politics. She was gracious enough to include me in her short list of Psych-Bloggers and frequently stops by and links to one or another article in her continuing series "Touch And Goes" in the Psych-bloggers. The Title Dr. Sanity is NOT a play off of her name by her, but was a sobriquet dropped on her by her fellow residents when she determined to go to a psychiatric residency. She too has been a guest on my radio show... as have YOU!!!!
LC: I caught your show when Dr. Sanity was on. She did a fantastic job. One other blog that I want to ask you about is Cao's blog. Tell me about her.
GMR: Cao started the Wide Awakes. I have a "blog son" Mustang who blogs at Social Sense. He was invited to join the Wide Awakes and later, so was I. Cao writes her own blog Cao's Blog (by the way, her name is pronounced "Key") and has been instrumental in helping a lot of blogs get off the ground and recognized as good conservative blogs.

LC: I remember her when her blog first started. It always just stood out above other blogs. Finally I want to talk about your radio show. When is it on? (You can click the Wide Awakes Radio link on the side bar of both Gm's blog as well as this one.)
GMR: Thursday nights, 9:00 PM Central time.
LC: How did you get into the radio show?
GMR: Some of us in the Wide Awakes talked about it for a while, but it was really Kender Macgowen who really was the drive behind it and the guy that got it up and running. Kender is fighting his own chronic illness and is a champion in my book. I was invited by Kender, I guess because he liked what I had to say. That and I bribed him. (Laughs)
LC: Kender is definitely one of a kind, a very likable fellow.
GMR: He is indeed. He pulls no punches and says what is exactly on his mind at all times.
LC: What is it that you like most about hosting your own radio program?
GMR: Well, I teach off and on at the University of Texas-Pan American and love hearing myself gab. But mostly, it is something new for me to do, something that reaches out to others in the opportunity to discuss politics, humor and any thing else that touches down even momentarily. Last Thursday night I did a spoof of a counseling session with "Bubba" a red-necked, bigoted fellow from Oklahoma who fixes cars under a tree. It was absolutely hilarious.

Sacrifice. Americans most meaningles word? Why should we sacrifice when we can sit around and party? Why should I have to risk my life for somebody else's freedom? Why shouldn't everybody be required to wear their seatbelts? Why aren't there more laws regulating our fat intake? Why should I have to smell cigerette smoke? Why should I see a motorcyclist without a helmut? Don't you know that offends me? Why should I suffer oppression when somebody offends me? Why should I tolerate Christianity during Christmas? Shouldn't I tell people not to offend me with a nativity scene? Shouldn't I whine?
Yes, I should be a big crybaby like everybody else. Baby Louisiana Conservative wanna suck the babba of big government too. Gimme, gimme, gimme because I can't do for myself. Please gimme more, I don't wanna sacrifice anymore. I wanna live forever! Screw freedom, why have the constitution? It's outdated... Yeah, it's all about me, my happiness, what I think you shouldn't be allowed to do, and my next party.

Have you ever wondered what happened to the 56 men who signed the Declaration of Independence?
Five signers were captured by the British as traitors, and tortured before they died. Twelve had their homes ransacked and burned. Two lost their sons serving in the Revolutionary Army; another had two sons captured. Nine of the 56 fought and died from wounds or hardships of the Revolutionary War. They signed and they pledged their lives, their fortunes, and their sacred honor. What kind of men were they?
Twenty-four were lawyers and jurists. Eleven were merchants, nine were farmers and large plantation owners; men of means, well educated. But they signed the Declaration of Independence knowing full well that the penalty would be death if they were captured.
Carter Braxton of Virginia, a wealthy planter and trader, saw his ships swept from the seas by the British Navy. He sold his home and properties to pay his debts, and died in rags. Thomas McKeam was so hounded by the British that he was forced to move his family almost constantly. He served in the Congress without pay, and his family was kept in hiding. His possessions were taken from him, and poverty was his reward. Vandals or soldiers looted the properties of Dillery, Hall, Clymer, Walton, Gwinnett, Heyward, Ruttledge, and Middleton. At the battle of Yorktown, Thomas Nelson, Jr. noted that the British General Cornwallis had taken over the Nelson home for his headquarters. He quietly urged General George Washington to open fire. The home was destroyed, and Nelson died bankrupt. Francis Lewis had his home and properties destroyed. The enemy jailed his wife, and she died within a few months. John Hart was driven from his wife's bedside as she was dying. Their 13 children fled for their lives. His fields and his gristmill were laid to waste. For more than a year he lived in forests and caves, returning home to find his wife dead and his children vanished. A few weeks later, he died from exhaustion and a broken heart. Norris and Livingston suffered similar fates. Such were the stories and sacrifices of the American Revolution. These were not wild-eyed, rabble-rousing ruffians. They were soft-spoken men of means and education. They had security, but they valued liberty more.
These were men with everything too lose, and they did. Go back and read it again, this time, pay closer attention and ask yourself, 'Would we be willing to make such a sacrifice in the name of Freedom?'
How could a nation go from being the 'land of the Free' to the 'land of whiners'? and from the 'home of the brave' to the 'home of people who are afraid of guns, cigerettes, fat in foods, losing their job and everything else' in less than 250 years?
We are weak kneed in every sense of the word. We're too soft on terrorism. We're too soft on oppressive dictators. We're too soft on criminals. Could we be any different with illegal immigrants?
We've become so weak that at the first sign of trouble on the job, we're ready to hang it up. In what ways are we a brave nation when our every move needs to be decided by the government? Where at, in our lives, do we not have government intervening?
Sacrifice. A word without meaning.
Sacrifice means not using your children as an excuse to sit around the house, smoking dope all day. Get a job for crying out loud.
Sacrifice means doing the things that one must, not what one wants, because it's the right thing to do.
Sacrifice means taking risks.
Sacrifice means losing.
Sacrifice means a lot more than it seems that any of us are willing.
We've become a nation where we want sex as often as possible with several partners, and we want it without prgnancy or disease. How is it the federal governments fault when we become promiscuous and get AIDS?
We are so busy looking at how other people hurt our feelings and pay little attention to how we destroy our own lives. We are running around, trying to get government to limit this person's freedom or that person's freedom and at the same time, we all are scratching our heads wondering where our own freedom has gone.
We want socialized healthcare but what is it that we really want out of it? Too live forever at everybody else's expense? We want longer life, but we want you to pay for it. We want to party, enjoy life, do what we want, but not pay for the consequences.
Thank God we didn't fight the American Revolution. All King George would have had to do was to take away our food stamps and we'd surrender.
The only question is now, when, not if, the Islamofacist step up their war efforts, how long before we lose.

Got Big Gov Republican sickness? Take a dose of Democrats.
Boy, it's Christmas season and all ready liberals are coming out with all sorts of surprises for us. I thought these libs were against big government? I thought they ran off of a conservative agenda. Merry Christmas and here is your present, one huge government, coddling with dictators, flirting with taxes, bogging down government with investigations, denying appointments, and even a discussion about the draft. Where's all the work that the people elected them to do?
It's one gigantic Christmas present for us on the Right. You see, the people were sick of big government Republicans. The cure? Elect Democrats. Are you sick of the Republicans? Take a dose of Democrats and you won't be sick of Republicans anymore. Side effects may include severe vomiting, headaches, and dizziness. If side effects persist continue using medication for the next two years.
Let's start with the wackos over at the HateFreedom Post. In celebration over Elgordo's victory, quickly went from an orgy to a hatefest. Here's a sample of the comments
Call me crazy, but I'm sickened to see my fellow Democrats falling in line behind an authoritarian thug simply because he doesn't like Bush. I guess that's what we on the left support in a leader these days: unfair elections (you're delusional if you think Chavez would ever allow a truly free election), assassinating political opponents, and default support of dictators and terrorists the world over, so long as they hate the "unjust" US.-- Beantown4776
Some Democrats still have common sense and the ability to think for ones self. To be honest, looking at the Democrat party, I often forget about these types of Democrats. I never could understand the socialist mindset of "It's okay if my guy kills me, because he cares." Does it matter who or why somebody kills you? Either way, you're still dead. But let's get back to the hatefest.
The conservatives are at best the hypocrites, the fake Christians, the dumb wild beasts, and the human trashes. Their love for materialistic life supercedes their worth of being a member of human race. Therefore, for human to attain true peace and freedom, these undesirable elements must be removed from the society. And who would be more dangerous and toxic to our society than @***o*e* like Dick Cheney and George W. Moron Bush?
Congratulations President Chavez. Please liberate the American people from the force of evil. --tihssihsub
"Liberate us"??? From what? Freedom? And this moron continues to live in what he describes as a dictatorship instead of moving to a peace loving nation like Venezuela. Still, what does this punk suggest society do with the people that disagrees with him? Removed from the society? And exactly where would this kind and compassionate thug have us go? To a concentration camp, perhaps? Well punk, I ain't that hard to find, come make my day. Bring some ginger and wasabi with you, cause I'd eat you raw like sushi.
You know, these liberals never could quench my thirst for intellectual stimulation, well, most don't. There are a few, but I find most liberals are over-sensitive sissymen. They talk a good talk, become highly offensive in numbers, but are the first to run cryin to momma when somebody insults them.
Bloggers such as Brad's Peanut and Martian Anthropologist remind me of the super-sensitive pony tail guys. They can talk a lot of smack in private. When they get picked on in the bar, they probably just go home, stand in front of the mirror and pretend they actually stood up to the guy who picked on them. They are courageous when they are with their friends, but cry when it's one on one. They think it's their duty to offend the right, but the slightest action by non leftist that rubs their sensitivity the wrong way will almost gives them a cardiac arrest. There are some reasonable liberals out there, but most of them are bitter McFly's who were picked on too much in High School and now call the rest of us "Rednecks" when they are safely nestled in front of their computers. What these liberals really need, is for somebody to slap them upside the head and put them back in their place.

Critical thinkers do not trust the US corporate media. There's plenty of evidence they have manufactured news about anyone in the world they don't like (being a Socialist a working to improve the conditions of poor people is actually considered a crime by US big business.) Before passing any judgment, the critical thinker makes sure what the US corporate media reports is actually a fact. Most likely, it's not. -By: amanda85
Critical thinkers don't trust the media, yes, this is true. It is also true that despots silence the media. Where are these lovers of freedom of speech while the press is getting shut down? Does that give George Bush permission to shut down our media? Would they approve of that as well? My God, these people are lunatics, er, moonbats.

Boy, won't American Jews be proud to see what they vote for when they vote Democrat. Oh I can't look at the sight any longer. I'm beginning to feel tainted, much in the same fashion as when I visit Al Jazeera's website.
But there is another side to the Elgordo Chavez theftory, Venezuela News and Views from inside the concrete wall is a Venezuelan who shut down his blog with Elgordo's victory. It's heartbreaking, especially seeing that so many Venezuelans still hold Liberty with the utmost respect.

There were reports of Voting Machines failing in Venezuela today. Company that made those machines? Smartmatic. Anybody surprised about this?
Venezuela had a high turnout. Hugo Chavez won. Surprised? Would it surprise you that there were some things about the election that just wasn't right? Vcrisis.com live blogged the events as it happened.
Folks, it's imparative that we start paying more attention to this dictator to the south. His victory just raised the stakes in the 2008 election. We will have an enemy of this nation for the next 6 years and quite possibly, this is Venezuela's final election.
Our next President better be a strong leader, whether it be a Republican or a Democrat, or we are going to be in a major downfall. May God help us.
Let's get back to American politics. Well, technically, I didn't leave American politics, since Elgordo is in the Americas, but that is besides the point. Let's get back to the United States. I really want to talk about Fausta's recent post, in which, she started talking about how some people consider tattoos sexy. I don't.
I don't consider it sexy when a woman has a tattoo. I don't consider thongs sexy, and I certainly don't consider a girl sexy when she's had more men in her bed than a military base. I hope that I don't get too far off my train of thought, but there was a related story about hookers being killed in Atlantic city that caught my attention. In the story, there is a 23 year old "sex worker" who looks "twice her age".
Folks, what in the world is so sexy about a girl who looks twice her age? Maybe she knows how to satisfy a man, and a bonus, she'll throw in your choice of seven different venereal disease, at no extra cost! Maybe I live in a fantasy world, I don't know. There's just some things that I know that guys find attractive. I want a woman that's a challenge to get. I want a woman who is at my level or better than me.
And I knew I was going to do this, get off topic, a little. I was thinking about hunters and sex. Maybe it's some subconscience desire of mine to go hunt me a little Bambi, the seven year itch, if you will. But there is one thing universal about men, and that one thing is the desire to conquer. It's a desire that all men need fulfilled. Hunters fulfill that desire by going out and hunting. What I'm saying, and I don't have facts to back this up, but I'll bet, hunters are less likely to commit adultry than non hunters.
Which brings me back to the hookers, loose women, et al. Men have a need to conquer. Men need a challenge. When they get a woman who isn't a challenge, they begin to look elsewhere. Hence, why no guy wants loose women.
Which brings me back ontrack. Our society is oversexed, but it goes back to our most innate needs, and sex is the way many people are finding a way to fulfill those needs. It's a self esteem issue. People who are obsessed with sex, do so, because they have not found their purpose in life. Men have a need to conquer and until they find a purpose to their life, will attempt to conquer women. Women have a innate desire to be beautiful, and often, women will confuse sex with being beautiful.
The scary part is that the oversexing of our society is spilling over into publicity stunts. We have stars intentionally exposing theirselves in order to help re-invigorate their careers. Wasn't it enough that stars would check theirselves into rehab in order to get people talking about them again? This pass week, we had Louisiana's own Britney Spears expose herself three times in one week, and one of those days she actually bought panties.
God forbid if this becomes the norm for politicians to do this in order to get media attention. Could you imagine Nancy Pelosi showing the world that she doesn't smuggle classified document like Sandy Berger does? Or Hillary Clinton showing us that she would bring piece to the Middle East? Worse yet, can you hear Helen Thomas's apology? "I was so stressed out about the possibility of Dick Cheney running for President, that I forgot to put panties on."
I enjoy sex as much as the next guy does, but at least I don't have to act like I discovered it yesterday. Sex is supposed to be an enjoyable part of life, not the purpose of it.
The good news and bad news for Gov. Blanco
First, the good news. The good news for Governor Kathleen Blanco is that she probably won't be the worst candidate for Governor of Louisiana. With the field getting crowded with candidates more suitable to take the oath of office more so than her, it could only serve as good news that attorney Hardy Parkerson from Lake Charles wants to get into the race. Pipe dream, I know, but I've lived in this state to know that something happens to people here on election day. They seem to get the choice between the two worst candidates. Mitch Landrieu and Mayor Ray Nagin are examples as is, William Jefferson and Karen Carter. At leat if Karen Carter wins, she'll probably escape being investigated, but only because the powers that be will ignore it as long as possible.
But the bad news. LSU was apparently headed to the Rose Bowl, so in her save the day fever, Governor Kathleen Blanco decided that she would make some calls, you know, pull some strings. LSU is now going to the Sugarbowl.
I'm not saying that her calls caused LSU to miss the Rose Bowl, but she obviously didn't help them. You know, after witnessing how she helped the hurricane victims, and how she helped LSU go to the Rosebowl, and how she helped John Kerry win Louisiana voters, I think I'd rather have my arms and legs ripped out than receive help from her. Even her "Road Home" program hasn't been very effective, and she needs it to be. Where else is she going to get voters from?
I share the same last name as the governor and at the rate she's going, I'm either going to have to change my last name, or get a concealed weapons permit. She seems to get worse, leaving Louisianans shaking their head, anxious for election day, so that we can get somebody new. The one thing positive that can be said about Governor Kathleen Blanco, is that she's consistent. Everybody understands that whatever her solution ends up being, we know it ain't gonna work and it's going to be very costly to the state.

They didn't have to. Nobody asked them to. They just went. They went even though many people told them not to. Was it you? When you heard they were going, did you tell them not to? But he or she went anyway. They went to serve their country. Maybe the Army, the Navy, the Airforce, the Marines, but they went.
They went to serve their countries. They went to stand on the front line of defense. Many of you never served. That's okay. For whatever reason you didn't go, I'm sure that it's justified. Remember, they must stand on that wall of defense so you don't have too. If anybody owes anybody anything, it's those of us who didn't go, while they sacrificed a part of their life to serve their country.
I think we owe them a bit of gratitude. So take a few minutes to say thanks
Now I know some of you out there don't like our men and women who are serving overseas. You'd rather send them into the middle of a war, tell them to keep the peace, and have them wait until fired upon before they fire a single shot.
Truth is, they aren't cowards like so many of us who sit around waiting for the next war protest. We act as if war is so horrible, denounce it as if there is no justifiable reason to go to war, when the truth is, you were too much of a coward to go and to justify that very cowardice, you try to demean the men and women who are far better than those of us who didn't go.
Truth is, those men and women do more to keep us out of war, than you will ever do with your silly 'holier than thou' war protest. They know more about how to win a war, and how an enemy ought to be treated, and exactly what kind of people they are fighting against. They don't need you, nor do they want you, telling them how to their jobs. Quite frankly, if you wanted to decide how war should be fought, then why aren't you there? Shouldn't you lead by example? You know more than they do, go!
You think going to the park, sitting in the sunshine, protesting the war is going to get a thank you from anybody? Only the enemy. You think pulling us out of war wins peace? You win a war for the enemy. Do you really believe that peace was won by the Vietnam War protestors? Ya think the people that we slaughtered after that would agree? What they successfully accomplished is removing an obstacle to victory out of the way for totalitarianism. What they successfully did was allow wars to get created. They encouraged the enemy to fight even harder. Today, you accomplish the same.
Nobody owes you a thank you. You, more than anybody, needs to kneel down and kiss the soldier on his ***. The least you can do is say thank you.

Sunday is the big day, and though I said Monday is the day of liberty, me thinks Monday is when the real election in Venezuela begins. Regardless of the outcome, I don't think that there will be peace in Venezuela. Me thinks they are doomed to a revolution.
That's a real smart move, right? Something like this should be said at least six months in advanced, right? Isn't that how politics is? You see, if I had said this six months ago, it would be forgotten that I had ever said it, if I'm wrong. If I'm right, boy, I can point to it and brag about how smart I am. I remind you how right I was all along.
But two days before an election? The smart money would just keep their mouth shut and wait for whatever happens on Sunday, then they'd tell us how they knew what was going to happen all along.
Hugo won't go peacefully. If he loses, he'll accuse Manuel Rosales of rigging the election. It's the Democratissocialistischavez's way. Personally I think the paper ballots are going to be stuffed with votes for Chavez. Chavez has no plans of losing this election and will do everything in his power to ensure that he remains President.
Think I'm kidding? Remember Sore/Loserman? Did you see Mexico today? Watch Mexico tomorrow. Just a preview of what' going to happen in Venezuela should Chavez lose.
What if Chavez wins? If Chavez wins, this will be the last election for Venezuela. Chavez wants to force a one party system and he'll use the victory as a mandate to do so.
Chavez has said he wants his revolutionary movement represented by a single party after Sunday's election but has also stressed that he would always tolerate an opposition.
He has also sparked comparisons to Castro by launching high-profile land confiscations, seizing private companies and taking control of oil projects previously run by foreign firms.
With a one party system, there is no need for an election. Should Manuel Rosales lose, the only hope for the Venezuelan Right, is Revolution.

The more I learn about Smartmatic and Sequoia Voting Systems, the more odd that it gets. Any novelist out there need a great idea for a story? We got it here. Only this time, it's for real.
I'm really surprised that the blogosphere hasn't picked up on this. Is this the same blogosphere that exposed Dan Rather and iCBS? There is a medium-high possibility that Elgordo interfered in our elections and there's mounting evidence in this. Can you believe, it's coming from the MSM and not the blogosphere? What happened? I take a very long vacation from blogging and everything is turned upside down? Democrats winning, MSM actually reporting the news, what happened? Britney Spears expose herself again?

Dude, it makes me so mad just talking about it, I need a joint, you got one? Oh yeah, I forgot! Check this out! Now Bush wants to blame that President who criticizes Bush for being evil. It's like, Bush is always doing things like this, he must be the dumbest President in the history of the United States. I saw that and I was like "Dude, Bush hates Latinos!"

A couple of years ago, I'd see this older white lady walking up and down the street. She was very nice, in fact, one could say she was very generous, even liberal in what she would give away. She was a thrill seeker, and for a few bucks, she'd thrill you too. Enough men, and probably some government agency giving her money meant she didn't have to work. Which she was too busy partying to be bothered with work, anyway, so I guess it worked out well for her.
I never forgot this woman, forty something years old, getting into fist fights on a daily basis, always looking for her next high, and her boyfriend was even nice enough to find the men who needed satisfied for her. I remember the day that shocked me, the day I found out that she was only 24. We often think happiness is thrilling, exciting, the new high, but when we travel down that path we find much more misery, pain, and our bodies takes it's toll. We grow old before our time, but our minds never mature.
Happiness isn't about staying happy all the time, or as often as possible. It's about settling down, finding your purpose in life, accomplishing goals, earning respect, gaining knowledge and the greatest joy is in seeing that knowledge passed on and practiced. It's not glorious, the highs are much further apart, but once you know your purpose, those joys suddenly are less important.

I believe I have said it here, but I know I have said it elsewhere, you can not live life by avoiding death. If you want life, go live! We all know somebody who is so worried about living that they spend most of their time worrying about things that could kill them. They want more laws on the books, let fear stop them from taking on new adventures, and safe in everything they do, but in the end, we all find ourselves taking a dirtnap.
The way I look at death is simple. Either there is a God, or there ain't. If there ain't a God, we won't know we died, when it happens. If there is a God, then you'd better have your business with him taken care of before you go see him. I have my business settled with God, so there's nothing left to fear. Life was meant to be lived, and live it, I shall.

When I first started this blog, I looked around the world and did not like what I saw. I looked at a Republican Presidency that appeared to me to be far away from my beliefs. Most of my allies seemed to have abandonned our core values. I thought I was alone, and never felt more so. It was the coldest part of my life. I didn't see anybody else standing up for what I believed, so I did. Alone if I must. I fought through the weakness, the coldness, the loneliness, and I began to type away.
They say, if you stand still long enough, the world will come back to you. When I stood up, I could see beyond that which was blocking my view. I saw, I was not alone. When you're sitting there wondering why everything is wrong, stand up for what's right, alone, if you must.

They All Look Like Dead Presidents To Me
I saw this story on the Drudge Report today, and can you believe it, our federal government discriminates against the blind. However, I won't discriminate against the blind. Besides, it's not like I can offend them, they can't read any of this. Wait, am I discriminating against them too? I mean, they can't read this, and what if I want them to be offended? Or are they discriminating against me? If they don't read this? I know, I'll sue Al Gore for inventing the internet, but not making it easier for me to pass information onto the blind.

This is so unfair, I ought to be able to sue the government for something. They discriminate against me. I know, they say I make too much money for welfare. That's not fair. I should get some too and it's discrimination not to give me welfare. Why should I pay and pay and pay and then I can't get some of the goodies from the government? I'm sure that I can find another judge that smokes as much grass as this judge does.
I remember when I was working on my last job and one of my customers was blind. He asked how much he owed me and then reached into his pocket, pulled out some cash, and gave me the correct amount. Bills mind you, I was astonished.
In fact, I did not believe he was blind. I assumed that he was pretending to be blind to see if I was being honest. As it turned out, he was actually blind. So I asked him, how did he do that? How did he know how much to give me? Turned out, he kept very good track of his money, knew exactly how many bills he had, what bills he had by feeling them and counting them.
Point is, blind people can adapt.
But there is another point that I'd like to make. Actually two.
First, are you as sick and tired as I am that some government official deciding against the idea that all men are created equal? This time it's a judge telling us that blind people can't do something. Everytime I turn around, somebody else was somehow born inferior to the rest of us. Seems to me, by the time we get used to the latest discrimination, there is a new type of discrimination. We find new depths to our inabilities.

This is my problem with affirmative action. What is affirmative action other than to say that minorities are too incapable and too incompetent of playing on a level playing field with white people? It's too suggest that middle class minorities are not as capable of achieving as low income white people, for no other reason than the color of their skin. It's insultive, it's a slap in the face of minorities.
Each time a government entity decides that we are incapable of handling a situation without their help, it successfully robs us of our own personal abilities, and future governments inherits a more irresponsible society. The more government does for us, the less we can do for ourselves, the more we look to government. For many, government has become their great provider, government is their God.

Why are people so insistent that America will never become a totalitarian state? Is it because we think that because the people have a say that it just isn't possible? Or has despotism become such a distant memory that we've taken freedom for granted? Do we see ourselves as such a great bastion of freedom that we are immune from the disease of barbarianism that has inflicted so much of the rest of the world throughout history?
Are we so far separated from the rest of the world that we don't have a reason to see what's going on around the rest of the world? Is it arrogance? Maybe our nation is too large, we have enough newsworthy events happening here in the United States, to keep our attention off of the rest of the world.
When asked 'What have you wrought?' Ben Franklin replied "A Republic,if ye can keep it."
We ignore the slaughters of innocents in countries such as what's currently happening in Sudan with the Darfur rebels. Oh we'll eventually pay attention, as soon as it comes out in movie theaters, much like we did with 'Hotel Rwanda'. Wasn't that so sad? How could something like that happen? Maybe we should pay closer attention to what's happening when it's happening instead of waiting for it to come out in theaters or DVD?
We have people in this country who compare Iraq to Vietnam, how 2,000 soldiers dead compares with 58,000 soldiers dead is beyond me. My calculations may be off just a little but, wouldn't that make Vietnam like 29 times worse than Iraq is? Hello? Speekun of these protestors, I'd be surprised if any of them can even find Iraq on a map, much less explain to you why pulling out of Vietnam without victory actually caused more wars, cost more lives, than had we finished with victory. Our lack of attention is why we are doomed to repeat the past. Like Vietnam, leaving Iraq short of victory will create more wars, with thousands more lives lost.
How many people realize that we have a dictator living a mere 90 miles off of Florida? 90 miles off the coast of Florida and there, it's illegal for the people to catch lobster, slaughter cattle, or even speak freely. For my more liberal readers out there, that country is Cuba.

Speekun of dictators, let's talk about Cindy Sheehan's favorite crusader of suffering, oppressor of the people, Elgordo Chavez. He has an election coming up. Fausta, yeah, she can be trusted with good info on Elgordo. Despite Elgordo Chavez's attempt to silence the masses with road blocks, 1.4 million people still showed up to cheer on the anti-Iranisfidelischavez forces of suppression. Definitely visit Fausta's, bookmark it, and, instead of Taco Bell, use her site as a reference for what's happening south of the border.
Despite agreeing with her that Elgordo Chavez won't actually get the majority of the vote, I'm less optimistic that he'll lose the election. This is a man who reportedly gave Osama Bin Laden one million dollars "for his work on 9-11." and no, that wasn't just something Pat Robertson made up. Reports also have Al Qaida in Venezuela as well as his meddling in Latin American elections in order to place anti-American leaders in power.
What's worse, if many of our conservative allies won't even admit that Elgordo Chavez is an enemy of our nation, how can we expect the rest of the nation to see it? Like it or not, we'll soon be at war with Venezuela, because Elgordo is already at war with us. That is, unless he gets thrown out of power. Even then, he won't go peacefully. I predict the results have Elgordo winning big, but dear God, I hope I'm wrong. Regardless of the election results, Venezuela is a country that is ripe for civil war.
The question is, really, with Americans so oblivious to the growing threat in Central and South America, ignorant of what's happening in the rest of the world, proud to be embarrassed as we pull our troops out of Iraq, while seeking salvation from their own local governments, how much time do we have left?
