I know I'm supposed to write about what I'm thankful for, but what difference does it make to anybody what I am thankful for when there are plenty of things that I'm not thankful for? Don't get me wrong, I'm a happy camper, I love life. Overall, I approve of the direction that my life is going. On the other hand, I'd like my life to be better. I could sit around and be happy that things are how they are, or I can continuously strive for the betterment of it. Yeah, I can be happy now, but I'd much rather pursue happiness.
My first thing I am unthankful for are these emails that I get telling me that if I forward this to my friends I will receive a special call at 11:21 at night, or I'll have five years bad luck. You know the drill, I mean we all get them, and you probably forward them.
Quite frankly, why in the fire and brimstone would you send me something that says that? First of all, I have me one of them thar Jay Oh Bee's. I have to get up in the morning. For those of you who don't know what a Jay Oh Bee is, it's where the rest of us are at instead of sitting around the house eating Bon Bon's, watching Oprah, while waiting for our government paycheck for being a Professional Daytime Talkshow Analyst. It's what the rest of us do to build our self pride, our dignity, and what we do to support your lazy... assuming that you even have the energy to sit up long enough to read this.
So why do you think it's a good thing that I get a call at 11:30 at night? Isn't that like, past my bedtime? Do you want me to get a phone call that late? Do you really want me to go to work tired and red-eyed because I forwarded on your email? Screw that...
And what makes your message so important that you'd actually curse me with years of bad luck? Cripes folks, I have enough problems without you sending me more bad luck. As many of those emails that I received and never forwarded on, I might as well file for what? Luckruptcy? What in the fire and brimstone would you call it? I mean, I'm doomed. Thanks a lot people for sending me thousands of years of bad luck because I was kind enough to think of my friends first.
I'm not thankful for regrets. Well, I only have one, and it's really embarrassing. Okay, two regrets, which, the second ain't so embarrassing. I almost went into the military, during the Gulf War but by the time I went through MEPS, the war was over. Still, I regret not serving in the military. For those of you who do serve, has served, and will serve, from the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU.
I'm not thankful for the people who's self serving moral superiority think that they have a solution to everybody's problem and guess who get's to solve my problems for me? Government, always the government. Cripes people, if men can't be self governing, how can we ever expect them to govern others?
Holy smokes man, now they want to prohibit people from driving with a cellphone in their hand? What's next, no wives in the passenger seat? Yeah, you think it's funny, but seriously, try driving with a wife in the passenger seat, talk about a distraction. I guess for the time being it's still okay for me to change the radio station, while checking my laptop, shoving a Big Mac down my throat, and flipping the bird to the guy I just cut off. I just can't have a cellphone in my hand when I do it. I mean, we pay people to sit around and think of new laws like this? The guy ought to be fired and his position done away with. Now we aren't just talking about any genious here, we are talking about a guy who wants an unenforceable law on the books. By the way, despite an increase in the population and cellphones becoming a daily part of our lives, traffic fatalities have been on the decline since 1986 and reached a 15 year high in 2005.
I'm not thankful for the people who stole headlines with hurricane assistance mis-spending. Using money to get a sex change? Come on, get your hungry boyfriend to bite it off and save the rest of us the money.
This past week, we found out that a couple of Katrina Evacuees made the rest of Louisiana proud when they went to Memphis, TN and asked a church to help them out. The church responded by giving the couple a $75,000 home, paid for. In return, the couple showed their appreciation by selling the house for $88,000. They are unrepentant of their actions.
There is story after story of these people who have taken advantage of the kindness of the way America has opened their hearts. Let's see if America is so generous the next time around.
I'm not thankful for the quasi-Republicans that we sent up to Washington on our behalf. What's with this Republican ideology that we stand for "Less Taxes OR Less Government"? I'm a Republican because I firmly believe in "Less Taxes AND Less Government". I believe that taxes ought to be lower, yes, that's fine and dandy. I also believe that government ought not be responsible in preventing me from dying. I don't care about the second hand smoke, the guy with a cellphone, or super fat deep fryers.
Believe it our not, God gave me legs. If I want to avoid the smoker, I can walk away from him. I love having my cellphone in my car, and if I see you in an accident, I'll probably use it to call for help for you, unless of course, you don't want me too.
As for the transfat or whatever the new thing that the health police are trying to save us from, it's my choice. I've long felt that McDonald's ought to place a ten foot mirror in all their restaurants with a disclaimer in large letters that states "If the object in the mirror appears too large, please try our salads".
Really, is it really too much to ask people not to blame McDonald's for getting fat? Are you really so stupid that you are surprised you get fat after eating McDonald's everyday? And why is it the government's responsibility to keep you from getting fat, especially when you are sitting in front of the television the rest of the day eating Bon Bon's, watching Oprah, waiting for a check from the government because you are a professional daytime talkshow analyst? Get some exercise man, you won't be so damn obese.
Speakun of obesity and government protecting us from everything, don't you think it's time we outlawed obese people in bikinis? I mean, I have a right not to go blind because some super duper chubster decided to show me they have more than two breasts on their front side and a cottage cheese factory in their legs. In fact, studies show that people who drive home after witnessing such a sight are as dangerous as a person who drives while being intoxicated at twice the legal limit.
I've been meaning to do this for quite sometime but haven't had much of a chance to do it. Just because we lost, doesn't mean the Revolution is over, it was just one battle.
One thing about Louisiana, the people here know how to have a good time, but something tells me that liberals will claim that our troops are cold and heartless and have some innate need to 'torture'.
I wish I could say that I wrote this letter, but it was a bigger man than I that's currently serving in Iraq.--JSB
John Kerry said, "You know education, if you make the most of it, you study hard, you do your homework, and you make an effort to be smart, you can do well, and if you don't, you get stuck in Iraq."
So I wrote him a letter:
I am a Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps. I am currently on my second tour in Iraq, a tour I volunteered for. I speak Arabic and Spanish and I plan to tackle Persian Farsi soon. I have a Bachelors and an Associates Degree and between deployments I am pursuing an M.B.A. In college I was a member of several academic honor societies, including the Golden Key Honor Society. I am not unique among the enlisted troops. Many of my enlisted colleagues include lawyers, teachers, mechanics, engineers, musicians and artists just to name a few. You say that your comments were directed towards the President and not us. If we were stupid Senator Kerry, we might have believed you.
I am not a victim of President Bush. I proudly serve him because he is my Commander and Chief. If it was you who was President, I would serve you just as faithfully. I serve America, Senator Kerry, and I am also providing a service to the good people of Iraq.
I have not terrorized them in the middle of the night, raped them or murdered them as you have accused me of before. I am doing my part to help them rebuild. My role is a simple one, but important. You see, Senator Kerry, like it or not, we came here and removed a tyrant (who terrorized Iraqis in the middle of the night, and raped and murdered them). And we have a responsibility to see to it that another one doesn't take his place. The people of Iraq are recovering from an abusive relationship with a terrible government and it's going to take some time to help them recover from that. We can't treat this conflict like a microwave dinner and throw a temper tantrum because we feel like it's taking too long.
Senator Kerry, you don't have to agree with this war. You don't have to say nice things about those of us who choose to make sacrifices for the rights of every American rather than sit back and simply feel entitled to it. But please, Senator Kerry, if you're going to call me a stupid murdering rapist, stick by what you say. Don't tell me that I misunderstood or that you would never insult a veteran because you are one too. Having been there and done that does not give you a free pass to insult me.
My suggestion for you, Senator Kerry, is to remember that your speeches are recorded, and broadcast to us simpletons over here. You may want to write down what you want to say before you say it; maybe have somebody look at it before you say it and tell you what others might hear. Remember that we can't read your mind; if there are any misinterpretations in what you say, it's because you didn't communicate clearly.
Good luck to you, Senator Kerry; if nothing else it's always entertaining to watch you try and climb out of the holes that you constantly dig for yourself.
Sincerely,
Somebody who is watching his daughter grow up in photographs so that you can have the right to say whatever you want about him.
Due to the stealing of Elections in the past by Republicans and GEORGE W. BUSH (evil supreme dictator of the world) there have been rule changes. Republicans are allowed to vote once and only once and MUST GO TO THE POLLS TO VOTE. Democrats will no longer have to leave the comfort of their homes. Instead, all they need to do is sit in front of their computer and cast at http://vote.com.
Once you cast your first vote, all you need to do then is sit back and wait for the Democrats to "GIVE a FREE link to YOU!" You will do what Democrats do best, take from others without having to pay a penny!!! You get a FREE link! You can vote as many times as you like so vote early and often. This however will mean that you can't go to the polls and vote since you will only be allowed to vote at one location.
If you choose to go outside and vote, you will be contributing to global warming, unless of course you walk, which is actually like WORK ing out, and we all know work just isn't the Democrat way. Plus, the only free thing you'll get is a sticker that says you voted. You'll actually have to sign your name, which sounds like more work (like filling out a job application) and might even get ink on your fingertip, which will mean you will probably have to wash your hands early and waste water, which in turn will lead to Global Warming.
Plus, what if you some across an evil smoker? Then you are putting your life at risk by inhaling his second hand smoke. Or what if you get hungry and the only place close is a McDonald's? You can turn obese! What if you get hit by another car because the person who was driving actually was talking on their cell phone, or worse---TEXTING?
And we already know that drunk drivers kill people with their cars, but what happens if a drunk driver hits you with his car, and you have to go to the hospital? We all know Doctors are Republicans and that means he'll keep you in the hospital all week long trying to save your life.
So Democrats, your option is simple, either go to the polls and vote once, or sit at home, vote on your computer, and get revenge on those evil Republicans by voting several times. The choice is clear, stay home and vote several times!!!
Normally I am a political blogger and never talk about new products, however, I've been trying this product for about a week now and the results have absolutely stunned me. I don't keep track of my Miles Per Gallon, though I should since I drive so much that my car is my office. What's more, I have to pay for my own gas. If anybody has reason to complain about high gas prices, it's me.
So you can imagine my reaction when I was approached by a friend of mine to try a product that would "increase my MPG". Of course I would, I spend too much on gas prices as it is. I definitely spend more on gas than the average Joe. I needed a solution. That solution is a pill. A capsule.
Go figure.
So my friend tells me to drop one capsule in my fuel tank, then fill it up with gas. It would make my engine run better, lower my car emissions, and, most importantly, increase my MPG which equals more money for me. Of course I was very, very skeptical, but if it worked well enough, I'll gain in my pocketbook. Save me money on my gasoline bill, that's all I cared about.
She also told me to put two capsules the first time, then one capsule each time I fill up. I will see results on the first tank, better results on my second tank, and even better results on my third tank. That was true, but what she did not tell me was that my fourth tank would be even better.
I suppose it took me an extra tank because I go through gas so quick. I don't know why, but the results are there. I am saving money on this.
The product that I am talking about is called MPG-CAPS and it can be purchased here. You can by one pack of 10 capsules for $19.95 which would be ten tank fulls (9 if it's your first time trying it).
You can purchase more than one pack, but I would suggest buying one and trying it out first. If you see a significant increase in your Miles Per Gallon, then purchase more. If not? Well, with rising gas prices, your going to eventually put that in your tank.
You can find more information about the product by clicking here
I haven't really had much to say over the past couple of months, and quite frankly politics hasn't even been on my mind much. Money, success, women, what makes a man a man, what it's all about, and why do I try? These are the things that have crossed my mind lately. Politics? Not so much, but I do find it interesting that no matter what I do, how little attention I pay to the national scene, I still seem to be a guy that naturally ends up in political discussions.
Tonight, I really want to just share some thoughts. Some are recent conclusions, most have been with me for a while, and all have been in my head over the last couple of months. So here I go.
Boys worry about their happiness, men do what they must.
I believe that statement sums up exactly what I mean but just in case there's a liberal Democrat out there who just doesn't get it, please allow me to elaborate. Boys think of terms of theirself first. How can I get something free, who can I get to do my work for me. 'So what if she gets pregnant, she can get an abortion'. Boys want to be happy today, everyday, and want to do so without consequences.
Men don't worry about their happiness. Men go out and do the things they must so that the others around them are happy. They raise their children and know that punishment is a tool to teach. They tell you things you need to hear, not what you want to hear. They sacrifice today knowing there will be plenty of happiness in the end.
There's a clear absence of men in the United States. It seems to me that we often glorify the insignificant. We celebrate the lives of people who, in the end, did nothing to make the world a better place. We've made Jerry Springer and the trash of society that he calls guest a staple in American television. We have sissymen singing, crackskull thugs playing football, and basketball players who won't fight another big basketball player, yet would run up into the stands to fight the wimpiest looking guy out there.
Where is the celebration of the Marine who, along with his fellow soldiers, will stand for his nation while bullets fly over his head? It seems to me that the only Marine a liberal will support is a dead Marine.
The Coming Election?
While I am talking about men, I guess the question of the upcoming elections is where I part ways with my fellow conservatives. I know very few of us on the conservative side of the aisle actually think we have a shot at keeping control of the house. I am among those that believe we will win in November, and I think it's a good thing that we see it that way. In a midterm election where voter turnout is lower, the GOTV (get out the vote) is ever more important. This helps Republicans, not Democrats. People that pay attention to politics, understand that Democrats are definitely not the way to reduce government.
Not that the Republicans have been a party of less government since their arrival in 1994, but Republicans have been more permissive of human freedoms than the Democrats have been. It's my bet that the people that are motivated to vote will vote majority Republican.
And While We Are On That Subject:
It must really suck to be a Democrat. There's a certain pride in Conservativism, even when our party leaders stray from conservative values. We conservatives understand our beliefs, we understand less government, less taxes.
But a typical Democrat, on the other hand, only understands that they are a Democrat and that they hate George Bush. How can one take pride in knowing that? Why I think it really must suck is because they have to keep changing their moral value system in order to keep up with their political beliefs. Conservatives have their moral values as the core tenet of their beliefs, which in turn stabilizes their political beliefs. Conservatives are in a class by theirselves, an upper class that isn't based on money.
Fear, Face It.
Fear is what separates the men from the boys. It's fear that keeps people from succeeding in life. Fear stops people from doing things they must do. Courage isn't the absence of fear, it's doing in spite of fear. Nothing good happens to those who let fear stop them.
Life is Fair
Don't worry about getting even with people. I learned that revenge is a sign of weakness. Those that seek to get even with people are scared of people, of pain, of suffering, which in turn shows that person is also afraid of taking chances, of sacrifice for the betterment of their life. More importantly, it says the person is afraid of trusting others. A person who can't trust others cannot be trusted. How one sees others is exactly how others should see that person.
Don't be so anxious to see revenge on those that do wrong. Life is fair and people who don't take personal responsibility will eventually suffer the consequences. Always take responsibility, even when you think you are not at fault. Life will reward you.
Women and Money Have Something in Common
Niether can make you happy, but both can make you miserable. How much money you earn doesn't matter if you don't spend wisely. You can be poor and happy, but if your ridden with debt, you will be miserable. Same thing with women. No woman can make you happy, but the wrong one will make you miserable.
The Biggest Threat to our Nation: Selfishness
I know there's nothing new under the sun and selfish people have always existed, but the more we give in to our selfish desires, the more we excuse it for other people. Why should we die in war, when we can die a few precious years later while living under the thumb of a totalitarian government? Why fight for the betterment of society, when I can demand more for myself at your expense?
The thought that somebody else owes you just because you exist is a problem. We face a future where majority stops thinking about others and just think about theirselves. That's a world that I hope I'm not around to see, but believe that I will.
One Last Thought
and I'll call it a night. Democrats care about the poor, but only when it's politically convenient. When Democrats talk about the helping the poor, what they really are telling you is what they believe will best benefit them, not the people they claim to help. A fine example of this was provided by Hugo Chavez, who kept gas prices lower out of concern for the poor. As gas prices dropped to 2 bucks a gallon, this man who cared about how much the poor people paid for gas, suddenly didn't care anymore. Hugo was one of the first to OPEC members to demand that oil supply be cut in order to prevent gas prices from dropping any further. Do you still think he cares about the poor? Niether do I.
While this is a much older post, from May of 2004, it still remains to be one of my favorite post that I have ever written. When I sat down at my computer and wrote it, I was thinking about 9-11 and what we were faced with in the coming election. We knew at that time that the Presidential candidates were going to be John Kerry and President George Bush. At that time, I still hadn't quite decided to vote for the President but was not at all impressed with Kerry. I just wrote my thoughts down. When I finished with it, I ran the spell check and word count and too my amazement, the total was 911 words. How appropriate I thought to myself and decided to leave it as is. So for this fifth anniversary of 9-11, I thought I would go ahead and repost it...as it originally appeared.
It seems every so often that someone comes along and inspires us. In July of 1941, one of the great speeches of the 20th century had Winston Church saying “You do your worst - and we will do our best", taking England from certain defeat into victory.
Ronald Reagan had one of those moments while standing in front of the Berlin wall in June 1987. When Ronald Reagan uttered “Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall”, he forever sealed his fate as a memorable president.
We remember greatness by great things happening. England survived the Blitzkrieg, Roosevelt led us into Normandy, and that wall that symbolized cruelty and denial of human rights eventually came down. Great things came as a result of great men who stood their ground in moments that would make most men cower to the desires of those around them.
Omaha beach
After September 11 our nation fell into one of those moments. Our nation had reached a point that it could have fell into fear, we could have easily been afraid of our own neighbors. We could have let our prejudices get in the way of our rational.
It happened to me, while I was managing a store, one of my employees, Gilbert, was up front working the register, when I came around the corner, four men were standing in line. One of the men looked at me and after noticing my skin tone yelled, “I can’t believe all these (expletive) camel jockeys in here!” and stormed out.
I was completely unaware of what a camel jockey was; I tried to stop the man because I thought that we had done something wrong. The other three men just looked at me as if too let me know not to worry about it. After we had taken care of the customers I asked Gilbert what we did to make that guy so mad.
He then told me he called us a camel jockey and I asked him what a camel jockey was. He explained to which I responded, “Well, what’s he going to do for an encore? Go into the ghetto and call everybody there a bunch of honkies?”
Though I don’t deny there are more examples than that, I do believe that was the exception and not the rule. Yes, there was anti-Arabic sentiment, but it could have been much worse. President Bush stood up and told the nation not to blame Arabic people. To quote President Bush, "We should not hold one who is a Muslim responsible for an act of terror."
Bush led the country. Bush had a big moment, but the Presidents big moment came a little later while visiting that memorable site in New York City. As President Bush stood on that rubble and began to address the crowd, a man interrupted President Bush and yelled, “I can’t hear you”
President Bush’s response got me out of my chair screaming. That’s what I wanted to hear I wanted to hear that we weren’t going to allow this to happen anymore. I wanted to know that we weren’t going to be pushed over. I wanted to know that our President would stand up for us. The rest of the country shared my sentiments.
Our President had one of those moments and he talked the talk and led us into action that would alter the way the world was. The Taliban was the first to drop, then Saddam Hussein. The President was showing a leadership that had been missing since 1989. We walked into a great moment and though the war is not quite over, our country is safer. The rest of the world knows, if we are attacked, we will fight back. The rest of the world knows, not all of us will tolerate terrorism.
Our future is becoming clearer as we approach the election. We have a guy who spends half of his campaign questioning his own patriotism and the other half changing his mind. One guy would rather trust the sovereignty of the United States in the hands of the United Nations. One man, does not even trust his own judgement over that of the United Nations.
While on the other side we have President Bush. The Presidents campaign has taken on a tone that goes after his opponent. Though I found them humorous and appropriate, I believe that the President needs to focus more on his leadership. The President ought to take the nation by the reigns and lead us into the election. The campaign ought to tell us more about the man who told us that those terrorists would hear all of us soon. The Bush campaign should show the President as the leader he was immediately after 9-11. Once the President does that, the other guy, the one who doesn’t even know what country he is in, will be sunk in his bid for the presidency.
Talk about having your day ruined. You packed your bags with all the necessary items. Toothbrush, comb, mirror, condoms, plan B, and of course the trusty penis pump. What do you mean you don't own one? Of course you do, if you're a male.
He told the Chicago Sun-Times after the hearing that security officials did not give him a chance to explain the misunderstanding, that he would never use the word "bomb" while going through a security checkpoint, and does not consider a penis pump an unusual object to own.
"It's normal," he said. "Half of America they use it."
See, half of America use one, a penis pump. According to my math, about half the population wouldn't actually need one since you would have to have the right equipment, so that means the entire other half has one. Gosh, since I don't own one, I sure feel lonely.
Okay, so you're wondering what this is about. Poor Madin Azad Amin couldn't bring himself to tell TSA that he was carrying a "penis pump" with him in front of his mother.
CHICAGO - Cook County prosecutors say a 29-year-old man traveling with his mother desperately didn't want her to know he'd packed a sexual aid for their trip to Turkey.
So he told security it was a bomb, officials said.
Madin Azad Amin, 29, of Skokie, was stopped Aug. 16 at O'Hare International Airport after guards found an object in his baggage that resembled a grenade, prosecutors said.
Couldn't he try to say something to his momma first? I don't know, maybe a "Hey momma, remember that time you told me about the motion in the ocean?". Could he have maybe said, "Momma, did you know half of America uses sexual aids?". Better yet, do what Democrats do, blame the innocent person, like a "Hey momma, did you know I had a birth defect?", or "Couldn't you eat more beef when you were pregnant with me?"
I haven't checked yet but I am sure there are some Democrats out there that will complain that the Bush administration is acting like Hitler over this. I can here them now, "What's this world coming too when you can't even take your trusty penis pump on a plane?"
Great news! Tomorrow night at 10 Eastern/9 in the evening, I get to go on Mr. Smooth Jazz's radio show. I'm talking about GM's Corner. Originally it was planned for September 7th, but due to a cancellation, I got bumped up.
Wide Awakes Radio, I believe is the brain child of Kender over at Kender's Musings and there are a lot of long time bloggers that's been around since, well before this blog.
I guess I'll just make this post about some of the people that do have radio shows with WAR. I am going to stick with some of the bloggers that stood out to me years ago and do a show there. Don't feel bad if I exclude any bloggers, it's just that they stood out then, they stand out now.
Basil's blog always stood out to me, it was clean, crisp, and who can resist a little baby? Though I am quite positive that Basil is a little older than the picture indicates, fer a young'n, the writing is pretty good. Basil's blog is bound to keep growing in readership.
CAO's Blog is a blog that is long overdue to be on my blogroll and if it weren't for those meddling kids she would have been. Actually, the reason she remains off my list is for the same reason LaShawn Barber isn't there - I don't know where to place them on my blogroll. I know where LaShawn is at now, but when I do update my blogroll, she will be there. Both are most excellent blogs, but CAO's stands largely because of her site design.
Finally we come to Passionate America whose blog set an early impression in my mind as to what a blog was to be like. Though I had already started blogging before I came across Wild Bill's weblog, he managed to inspired me to write more often and to stick to it.
But let me take this moment to thank all of you bloggers out there. Recently I was interviewed through email about blogging, as I am sure some of you were as well. I recently received the guy's final thesis and barely had time to skim through it. There was one thing that caught my eye, that the blogging community on both sides of the aisle felt that the press wasn't living up to expectations. We all have an agenda with our blogs, and mine is simply to express my views, but who would have thought the blogging community would have become as powerful and influential as it has become? From the Clinton-Lewinsky scandal to today's late breaking news, you'll find it in the blogosphere as it happens. If you haven't started a blog, whether you're an aspiring writer or merely a guy who likes to write his thoughts down, get one and enjoy it.
