Blogs turning misery into political opportunity.
I think I am going start a list of blogs that I find that our using our misery in order to make some political point. It's sick and disgusting. Let the thousands of bodies get cold before you start second guessing our leaders. I don't recall anybody running around immediately after 9-11 trying to make use that to score political points. Quite frankly, this disaster is much worse. How many people died on 9-11? How many cities were wiped out on 9-11? And some of you want to score political points?
Since so many blogs want to Blame Bush first, even though his approach was the same as Bill Clintons concerning the levies. Also, I read Molly Ivans column today for blaming bush because of pumping water out of the wetlands... yet he was faced with criticism of not doing anything about coastal erosion. (let me get this straight, damned if he does, damned if he doesn't?), and thirdly because I enjoy picking on liberals. I'll start with Liberal blogs, but conservatives beware, I will list you too. This is no time to use misery in order to score cheap political points.
Liberal Blogs (ie "Moderates", "Progressives", "Centrists", "Left-Wingers")
Chicken Foot Stew What's in Scott's Head
The Martian Anthropologist
Jennifer Roche
Bush Out
Bring it on
Too Much Blue Sky Liberty For Sale Finding A Voice
San Francisco Liberal Jamies Venture
Sams Dead Fish Club
Think Progress The Talent Show Strip Search City
Micheal Moore
Infinite Wisdom A La Gauche Rude Pundit
***EDIT ON ENTRY***
For Crying out loud, what the hell is the matter with you Democrats. Are you really just sheep being led to the slaughter? It seems as if every d@mn liberal blog that I come across wants to turn this into an opportunity to bash Bush rather than have some sympathy towards the victims in all of this. Hell people, go see a damn psychologist for your obsession with Bush. People are dying right now and the only thing you people can do is offer up criticisms of Bush? Bush is doing everything he can. Kathleen Blanco is doing everything she can. Mayor Ray Nagin is doing everything he can. If you want to blame anybody for the evacuation not going quicker you can start with blaming our mayor here in Baton Rouge that has stated that we are not going to take any more refugees. In case you haven't noticed, this is the closest city to New Orleans. Where are they supposed to go? Houston? Lafayette? That takes extra time to go there. Not only does he share some of the blame but so do the people that are shooting at the rescue workers. And don't forget the people that are jamming the streets making travel out of New Orleans even more difficult. And Jesse Jackson coming over the airwaves to stir up the people still stranded down there. That's brilliant mister Jackson. Tell the people that we are trying to rescue that they aren't going to get rescued because they are black. How brilliant! You must be a damned genius. Where the hell did you get your brains at? How bout some of you people just shut up???
Special Recommendation for
Buy Blue for having enough sense to talk about Katrina without turning it political. Thank you.
P.S. excuse the language... most of my readers know that I do not like to cuss.
Conservative Blogs
There are a lot more blogs that I can find and with limited time will be updating this post. Feel free to leave a blog in the comments section conservative or liberal. I'll post the ones that I see using this strictly to use misery to score cheap political points. Your assistance is appreciated. By no means am I suggesting that people do not criticize the president or any other leaders. However, there is plenty of time later on to talk about what could have been done and very little time now to do something. Instead of using your resources to score cheap political points, use your resources to help out. There's a large city and many small towns filled with Republicans and Democrats, blacks and whites, rich and poor all displaced. All hungry. All faced with disease and death. Make your political points later.
Sick bastards, people are dying and all you can do is score cheap political points? To you bloggers that I have listed thus far, "Get off your @$$ and do something to help!".

Reports of people firing shots at rescue helicopters at the Superdome in New Orleans. Air evacuation has been stopped at least temporarily but evacuation by bus continues. There also have been reports of arson around the Superdome. Read more here.
The politization of our distaster continues on blogs and Airhead America radio. Let me tell you folks, right now, politics is the last thing on our minds. As politically charged person that I am fact is, I don't care about politics right now.
I think I speak on behalf of most Lousianians when I say, Republican President Bush is our president. This month he is our president, just like the Democrat Kathleen Blanco is our governor, and for Louisiana, Ray Nagin is our mayor. As far as we are concerned, let them do their job. They are doing their job. Our senators, one Republican, one Democrat, are doing the best they can. Our congressmen are doing the best they can. For what it's worth, they are our leaders. That's what we got for leadership and it sure the hell beats out the leadership that your providing by crying "There's an absence of leadership". Quite frankly, your misuse of the misery that Katrina has brought for political positioning is pathetic, sick, and disgusting. Maybe the people in Littleton didn't mind you using Columbine to score political points for gun control, maybe others don't care. But please refrain from using this distaster to pathetically score political points against the President, OR OUR DEMOCRAT GOVERNOR.
Governor Kathleen Blanco ordered yesterday to be a day of Prayer, hell, even the ACLU had enough class not to interfere. Now, maybe they'll sue her in a couple of months for doing that, we'll see. But the fact of the matter is, right now, our leaders are our leaders. Leave them alone.
Turns out that it was true about the people attempting to raid the children's hospital. I'm not inclined to favor government to shoot people at will, but in this instance? I don't know.
As for the criticism that people should have gotten out of New Orleans and other places, people have got to realize that we face hurricanes all the time here. The fact is, New Orleans would have survived Katrina had the levy not broke in three different places. It's not what Katrina did while she was here, it's what she left behind. It was the aftermath. Most of those people that were in New Orleans felt as if they could wait out the storm. I'll bet that the majority of people that evacuated New Orleans felt the same way, but felt that it was "Better to be safe than sorry." I'll bet if you asked those people that evacuated if they expected Katrina to do what it did, they'd tell you "no".
It did what it did. Either help or do not help, but don't interfere with your second guessing of our leaders while sitting on your @$$.

I thought that I would share some rumors from New Orleans, which is exactly what they are rumors. Unconfirmed to be true.
1. Looters surrounding a children's hospital --- probably not true.
2. Looters organized as an army, well armed... Possibly true.
3. Officer shot in the back of the head by a looter... most likely true.
4. Over 1,000 drowned in New Orleans....most likely true
5. Hostage crisis in New Orleans prison... Possibly true
6. The world is coming to our aid, just as we come to their aid... Definitely false.
7. Citgo gas still $2.35 --- True.
More to come

Talk about nasty. I've seen hurricanes before and didn't think it that big of a deal. That was at least until Sunday when everybody was closing early. It started dawning on me that this was huge, this was something that went beyond politics with the President, congressmen and senators, governor, and the mayor of New Orleans speaking of catastrophe before it hit.
It wouldn't have been so bad had the levy didn't break, in fact, you folks out there probably know more details on the thing than I do. You know about the looting, the drowning, you've had the visuals. But many of us in Louisiana didn't have electricity, (many of us still without), no television, no phones, no form of communication other that a battery powered radio.
We've had hurricanes before but not like this. I've heard the mayor of New Orleans say that this is "Our Tsunami". I don't know about that, that's a pretty drastic comparison, but to many people, it couldn't be worse. I heard that there was a police officer shot in the back of the head, over 1,000 bodies in the water, and organized gangs well armed ready for lootin action. The situation is getting worse.
What the victims do need is assistance, what they don't need is political positioning by self righteous political activist anxious to use people's misery in order to make a political point. So I beg of you bloggers to quit using our trajedy to score some political points. Bloggers such as The Liberal Avenger and Alternate Brain. What is it with you liberals? Why do you take people's misery and try to use it to advance your political agenda? New Orleans is a Democrat town. New Orleans is what carries elections for Democrats around here. But the disaster has nothing to do with politics. People need help now. People need as much relief as possible. People could not predict that this would be this serious.
Here in Baton Rouge, I have personally seen lines for gas stretch for at least 1 mile, and gas lines are all over the place. I also understand that in Atlanta, gas has skyrocketed to over $5 a gallon. Before you complain about Bush and the Saudi's, why don't you first look at the situation more clearly. This state produces oil. Many of the off shore rigs have been destroyed and with our own production taking a hit, we've become even more dependent on foriegn oil.
The Hurriclaimed according to Yahoo
Now that I am finally able to get to the internet, I should be able to comment more on this...

It wasn't until I was reading Wizbang that I began to realize that the reason people were so offended at Pat Robertson's suggestion is because they didn't realize exactly what kind of cruel and malicious dictator Hugo Chavez is.
To me, for Pat Robertson to suggest that Hugo Chavez be assassinated, it was no different that suggesting that Hussein, Stalin, Hitler or some other hostile dictator be assassinated. But then, our reasoning today explains why we wouldn't do it in the past. Hindsight is always 20/20 and maybe 40 years from now people will wonder why our generation just didn't assassinate Hugo Chavez. It's easy to judge history, not so easy to be a part of it.
It's easy to call our president a hated dictator when we have the freedom to protest him, when we have the freedom to disagree, and when we have the freedom to vote against him. It's easy to say a dictator is a well loved president when those who disagree are inprisoned or murdered. When those who do anything less than love him, when those who vote against him are killed.
It's easy for us in the states and look the other way at autrocities around the world. It's easy for us to just assume that the world is at peace and that the people who do live in fear under tyranny do so by choice, out of love for their "president". It's easy for us to assume it because we don't live under it. For us, it doesn't exist, but where it does, we just ignore it.
We owe the people living in tyranny an apology yet continue to accomodate the leaders who crush their freedom.
I was in shock to see that Wizbang wasn't aware of Hugo Chavez's cruel Human Rights abuses among other things, but it's even more awful that we have such a bold enemy building up arms and preparing for war with us on our own continent. What's worse? Most Americans think that Hugo Chavez is a wonderful man that was democratically elected and is well loved.
I may not be able to post in the next couple of days because we are getting a visit from an ugly lookin gal named Katrina. She is one of the ugliest gals I've seen. She's going to Nawlins before she makes her way up her and fortunately for us, by the time she gets here she will have done most of her damage. However, one can never be too sure about hurricanes.
So in the meantime, I hope that those of you who read this take the time to do your research on Hugo Chavez. Look under Human Rights abuses and see what you can find. Look to see how he views the United States, do your research. I will discuss more of this upon my return.

Hugo Chavez - dictator - Enemy of the United States.
Wow, it's hard to imagine that people remain oblivious to the enemies of the state. Throughout history every country has enemies. It's some natural order to things. Here in the states people seem not to care. Is it our military might that gives our people a false sense of security? Is it our view that since we can out muscle the rest of the world that equates to victory? There are many ways that the United States can be brought to it's knees, without ever going to war.
It's beginning to happen now, with oil. That stuff that we went to Iraq for? Remember? All that oil that we just "stole" from Iraq so that we can have so much that every American can go swimming daily in it, and then charge an arm and a leg for it. Remember? Yeah, that oil.
In case you missed it, we aren't taking oil from Iraq because if we were, our gas prices would be dropping. Perhaps we can thank the liberals for that for spouting propaganda lines like "No blood for oil".
But I digress...the price of oil continues to rise and if the prices continues to rise, the impact that it will have on the economy will only deepen. As gas prices continue to rise, so does the cost of transporting goods, which means higher prices at the market.
Also, as people spend more money on gas, the spend less money elsewhere. I know some of you tax and spend libs think that the average Joe has an endless supply of cash, but in reality, people have limited incomes. If they have to spend more on gas, they have to spend less elsewhere. They'll cut out their coffee in the morning, family night out at a restaurant, a movie rental here and there. They will spend less at the grocery store, and yet products will cost more.
In the end, that means a smaller profit margin for grocery stores, it means a smaller profit margin for all businesses. With a smaller profit margin, employee hours will get cut, and in some circumstances, eliminated.
The oil companies understand this, that's why it is imparative for them to keep oil prices reasonable. If gas prices go to high, the world economy would go into a great depression and in the end, oil companies would lose out. If nobody has the money to buy cars, who will buy the oil?
So the demand is what will continue to drive oil prices up. As long as people are willing to spend that much money on gas, the more likely it is that prices will continue to rise.
But how does Hugo Chavez fit in here? Venezuela owns Citgo and is the fourth largest supplier to the United States. Mexico is the second largest importer and Ecuador, Colombia, and Brazil are the thirteenth, fourteenth and fifteenth largest importers to the United States.
Hugo Chavez believes that he is in a fight with Washington, even recently claiming that the United States is attempting to assassinate him (hence Pat Robertson's remarks). He has forged an alliance with other countries that consider theirselves enemies of our country, such as Fidel Castro and openly defended Saddam Hussien.
Hugo Chavez continues to build a military, in large part thanks to increasing oil prices, that he is integrating with Cuba's. It's wouldn't be the first time that Cuba's military build up would be threat to us. With control media, Hugo Chavez's propaganda spreads into every nation through Telesur or as some have branded it AL-Bolivar (as in Al-Jazeera).
If Hugo Chavez continues to go unchecked, we can expect to see trouble brewing through the Latin American countries, the aim is to turn U.S.-friendly countries into our enemies. Expect to see civil wars in democratic countries, expect to see Telesur support extreme left wing candidates during elections.
But for those of you that are betting that upon Fidel's death, Cuba will become a freer country, I'll wager that you are wrong. Cuba will continue to be like it is now, but I'll take a chance and say that Hugo Chavez will control Cuba.
However, do your research, and prove me wrong. Prove to me that Hugo Chavez in no way is either a dictator nor is he a threat to the United States. If you wish to assume that he is no threat and is no dictator, well, you better be right.

I have had many people ask me "Why aren't you posting on your blog?"
Well.... there's a few reasons.... and some have been disclosed other reasons have not.... but it's time to continue on, expect to see me more and I apologize for being so sporadic over 2005. Although I am much happier in other aspects of my life, I certainly hope this does not infringe on my abrasive edge in politics...
Pat Robertson
Oh man, love his comments, but why did you run from them Pat? It didn't bother me in the least that he suggested that Hugo Chavez be assassinated, in fact, I agree. Why not? What I was disappointed in is that he denied making the comments. Apologize sure, stand by them, even better, but to deny them? Robertson did a great thing, he's got liberals all in a tizzy, in fact, he's gotten under their skin so much I think President Bush (or Rove) ought to nominate him for the Supreme Court.
Quite frankly, liberals wonder why people consider them "UnAmerican"... but for you liberals out there, I'll tell you why people think you are unAmerican... it's not because of the President, (Bush or Rove), it's not because of the press, it's not for any other reasons other than the simple fact that every time something appears good for America, you seem to oppose it, if it is bad for America, you are for it..
Let's take assassination for example... Saddam attempted to assassinate former President Bush... but did you care? No, in fact, in your book that's a good deed. However, an American citizen suggest that an enemy of the United States be assassinated and your are drooling at your opportunity to call Pat Robertson a Nazi and use the term 'Fatwa'
Hell until his comments, I bet most liberals didn't even know who Hugo Chavez was, but one thing is sure, every single liberal is using the term "Fatwa" in the same sentence with Pat Robertson's name and somehow, they think for theirself... Actually, I know where they got it from... I was listening to Airhead America Radio yesterday when Ed "Spouts" Shultz called it a FATWA.
By the way, while listening to him he mentioned that his listeners were getting disgruntled because he hasn't been talking about Karl Rove lately. His response? "What do you want me to say?"
Gawd, is it really that hard to figure out without having to refer to the little black book of propaganda? Ed, when they ask you to say something about Karl Rove, all you have to do is say, "Oh that Nazi is controlling the Whitehouse". That's like giving water and grass to the sheep... you say that and you'll skyrocket in the liberal charts. It's like the liberal punch line to every Republican joke... "Oh yeah, well your a Nazi!" and they run off and applaud theirself because they found a way to call a Republican a Nazi.
Speakun of Airhead America Radio, how does one keep theirself awake during that damned Al Franken show? I mean, if it was funny okay, if he'd say things that would irritate me, okay. If he would actually do something on the radio, but my God man, he's trying to assassinate Republicans with his voice... Look, I was almost in a car accident because that damn Franken almost put me to sleep... Really, if you suffer from insomnia, record 10 minutes of Al Franken... that's all you need.
Ah, Speekun of the Supreme Court
I know, what do I think of John Roberts...? Well quite frankly, I didn't know what to think... Liberals were awfully nice to him for the longest. I was surpirsed, but alas, they blew the horn and rallied the troops and as I said, here comes the Big Battle Royale. Personally, I think John Roberts makes or breaks the Bush presidency. I, as a conservative, have been extremely disappointed with the President. I thought I was getting a conservative, but I got this liberal who cut taxes and did what any president would do concerning the safety of America. However, on so many other issues he has been anything but a conservative.
At first I was pleased with John Roberts, but with such silence from the liberals, I was certain that something must be wrong with John Roberts. Turns out that the liberals are really upset because there is nothing for them to be upset about and that just pisses them off. How are they supposed to undermine the Bush presidency if Bush puts up qualified individuals.
Now, I'll tell you what would have made the Democrat leadership really happy. Had John Roberts had the same qualifications but was a minority, the Democrats would have thrown a fit for the ages... well they are going to do that anyway but the silence wouldn't have been nearly as long. But let's face it, liberals need complete control over the courts because even if they got elected to do what they wanted to do, the people would still reject their policies and they need the Supreme Court to help force the liberal government onto people....
Speekun of Liberals
I've kept my mouth shut long enough about Cindy Sheehan but I can't stand that idiotic look on her face. Oh don't give me that crap that she lost her son. She lost her son over a year and a half ago. If she's still grieving like that after all this time then it's her own damn fault.
Look, I hope you parents out there understand that I am not being critical of people in mourning, it's just I never seen a parent that has lost their child have the same look on their face that Cindy Sheehan has after losing their child a year and a half later.
There are several rules in life that I have, one of those rules is to treat the people close to you right, so that when they are gone, you won't miss them as much.
What I mean is simply this, have you ever gone to a funeral? Have you ever noticed that the ones that are closest to the deceased, the ones that the deceased liked the most seem to cry the least? At least out loud, their grieving is kept in solitude. Have you ever noticed that those that treated the deceased the cruelest take their death the hardest? At least in public.
It seems to me that those that don't treat people right during life put the biggest show on during death. The more Cindy shows that ridiculous grieving face, the more I wonder why she just didn't treat Casey right while he was alive? Whatever the case, Cindy, it's been over a year and a half since his death, you have had your chance already to ask President Bush your silly questions, you did not take advantage of it then, why should he meet with you now?
And those silly rabbits...
.....down and the Walter Reed Hospital protesting on behalf of the wounded soldiers. Yeah, like the wounded soldiers need somebody to go outside for them and protest. You know, I'm willing to bet, in typical liberal fashion, they are going to claim they are doing this for the soldier because they care about the soldier, but like true liberal programs, hurt most the people it's intended to help.
I'm willing to bet that those liberals down there are not looking out for the best interest of the Soldier, but rather, like typical liberal fashion, will use misfortune in order to score political points. That's liberalism. Remember Columbine? The bodies weren't even cold and they were running around using that day to score political points about gun control. That's how liberals are, if it's bad news, it's great for political propaganda.
You know, I wonder how many of these liberal protestors out there, you know, the ones that care so much about the loss of life in Iraq, how many of them even taken the time to thank the family of a soldier for serving his country? Wether you support the war or not, thank the soldiers for doing their duty?
No, it's much easier to call this war "Iraqinam" so you can spit on the soldiers during their return.
Yeah, I'm back.

I've been warning of the health police coming and now they are here in Louisiana.
Governor Kathleen Blanco has tried to increase the taxes on cigerettes, tried to ban"junk food" from public schools. She even rode a bicycle (helmetless) in a propaganda attempt at lecturing us about maintaining our health. Now for a lady who insisted that bikers wear helmets, she ought to lead by example.
But it does not stop with her.... even though you would have to pay more for your cigerettes had the Guv had her way, you wouldn't have a place to smoke them anyway, thanks in large part to the health fanatics running amuck. I mean just a random google search of "Anti Smoking Laws" brings up several news stories in the past month or so. A "web" search of the same brings up 1,050,000 results.
But we knew this had to be coming when government takes a more active role in paying for our healthcare. The more government pays for your health, our health, the more expensive it becomes for the government. As the costs continues to climb, government begins to look at ways to cut the cost, but not "their responsibility". The more government takes responsibility over your health, the less responsibility you have over your own body. The consequences quit becoming your own, and starts to become the governments. We have gotten to the point where government pays enough people's healthcare that government is searching for ways to meet its expenses, not through higher taxes, but through maintaining public health better. Forcing public health better. Believe it our not, we have sold our bodies to the government already, and it was sold under the guise of compassion.
Don't expect the government to stop with anti smoking laws, it will not stop there. The type of grease restaurants use will soon be under fire. The assault on the Fast Food industry will only grow. "Healthier choices" (funny, but that's what they'll call limiting your decision) will soon be in all schools. Hell, I wouldn't be surprised to see our government outlaw junk food vending machines where children can access them, remember the old cigerette machines?
What's really so amazing is the open use of the word "Nazi" that is often flaunted to describe Republicans, yet so many of these people that side with the fanatical health police are practicing many of the Nazi ways. One ought read a book by a progressive named Robert N. Proctor to understand what I am talking about, though I get a feeling that so many of you are already aware of the health fanaticism that was a runaway frieght train in Nazi Germany.
Is it really a war that made the Nazis such a dictatorship? Are dictatorships really tolerable if the don't create wars? Do wars qualify a nation as a dictatorship? It seems to me that there are those who see it this way, that the United States is suddenly Naziesque simply because we are fighting a war in Iraq. Yet, it wasn't the war that made the Nazi's so intolerable, it was the control of lives, the slaughter of the unwanteds, the fanatical health police, the censorship of free speech, the censorship of music, the control over the individual health, the control over ones job, the control over your home life, the control over what you ate, what you smoked, what you drank, what you said. That's what makes a dictatorship so intolerable, and if dictatorships are so damned evil, why the hell are we so anxious to become one?
Tonight I will watch "Intolerance" by D.W. Griffith. It supposedly, at least it's my understanding, was his "apology" for "Birth of a Nation" However, he made the argument at the time that speech was left free and only being challenged now that motion picture had come about.
It's funny isn't it, the two things I am sure about, whenever there is new technology folks and/or When Republicans and Democrat pols agree, folks, you're about to lose freedom.
(p.s. Good Job Pat!)

There's trouble in the name William Jefferson
William Jefferson, Democrat Congressman from New Orleans had his home searched by the Department of Justice yesterday. Still developing news, nobody knows why, what, or how, but stayed tuned to this one kiddies.
There has to be serious case built against the Democrat Congressman. If the DOJ gets a case against a sitting congressman wrong, you know heads are going to roll. Secondly, it's the duty of the Department of Justice to build a case so strong that even many of his admit his guilt. With fame or office, some people will take the defense of the individual and never admit their guy is guilty.
That's the scary thing in politics, people actually become some radical over their leaders that they would sell their own family out before admitting the guys' guilt and vice versa. Some people will deny, despite any evidence, that Jefferson is innocent, just as there will be some to claim he's guilty despite any proof that he is innocent.
That being said, I believe Jefferson is a pawn in this whole thing, that there will be more serious charges brought up against other individuals in Louisiana. Finally, somebody besides an Insurance Commissionar and a Governor faces the prospect of going to jail.
It's an interesting thing that is already happening, many Democrats are accusing the Bush administration of waiting until after Jefferson voted for CAFTA, which passed by a small margin.
Perhaps it is so, but then, where were their complaints when the Democrat President Clinton oversaw the Democrat Governor Edwards get thrown in jail? Did Clinton wait? Why didn't Clinton pardon his good buddy, Edwin Edwards? Was Edwards too corrupt for Clinton, or did Edwards choose not to share the wealth and buy a pardon?
But, my friends outside of Louisiana, politics down here make for an excellent episode of the 'Twilight Zone'. Strange things happen down here, keep a watch on this.
