After the President gave his acceptance speech on Thursday, I was a bit ambivalent to what I was supposed to feel. Was I supposed to be happy that George Bush is giving us permission to own things? Should I be down that he thought we make government bigger? Or should I just be ecstatic because we had a guy in office who understood that Rights come from God and because this is so, Rights belong to every single human being, not just those born in certain parts of the world. What ever those feelings were supposed to be, or whatever it was that I just saw, I was just trying to soak it in. I was speechless.
Shortly after the GOP closed out their convention, the Senator that committed war crimes took some podium and began to bash the president. As I watched this, three thoughts came across my mind.
First was that this guy is totally classless. Why was he taking the stage like this?
Then I thought that he must have been desperate. For Kerry to try to upstage Bush immediately after the GOP convention is an act of desperation. It was so out of character for a presidential wannabe that it should turn off even the most ardent Democrats
Thirdly, I picked up on John Kerry flip flopping in the middle of his own speech. One minute he's saying that the "speech lasted forever" and "now that the president has finally finished his speech". Then in the next minute he says, "But I don't know how many of you watched that. After reading their speeches — I actually didn't get to see any television, because I was in an airplane or flying or going somewhere..." You can read the speech by Clicking Here
His rally was so bad that even his supporters in the background looked confused.
Today, John Kerry gave another speech, and once again, he talked about what George Bush than he does about John Kerry. The problem is the average person can smell desperation from the candidate. In his third paragraph he launches into Bush with As the president likes to say, there's nothing complicated about it. It does all come down to one letter -- W. George W. Bush. What do you think that W stands for? That W stands for wrong. Wrong choices, wrong direction for America. And this election all comes down to one decision: Do we want four more years of wrong choices, or do we want to move America in a new direction?
It's not so much what he is saying rather than a lack of it. It seems to me that the Kerry campaign realizes it's losing, and losing badly. A front runner talks up about himself, a person behind has no choice but to go on the attack. The fact that Bush is staying upbeat and talking about his policies and his administration makes Kerry look all the worse.
Many of you have already heard it predicted but now that prediction is coming true. This campaign is coming unhinged, the poll numbers are about to explode in Bush's favor, the flood gates are about to be opened. This election is going to be over before the debates. John Kerry and John Edwards are about to have their political careers finished. The funny thing is, Bush isn't a great President, the Democrats just make him look that way.

I could be pretty popular but...
Now that the two parties had their conventions, it's time to ask this question again.
I will ask this question again in October.
As it becomes more and more evident that the Democrats made a huge mistake in nominating the self admitted war criminal named John Kerry, I have to wonder How do you ask a Democrat to be the last Democrat to vote for a mistake?

I just can't suck up. I do want to thank you folks that come here on a regular basis because I know that you respect my opinion, even though at times I screw up on basic english.
I was thinking at just how popular I could be if I just play the Bushfan role. If I just took everything the president said and cheered him on, even when I thought he deserves to be jeered.
Understand that as a man, I like the president. He's a wonderful guy, I'm certain of it. But he is also the president of the United States and is in the line of fire. He is also the leader of our party, and the direction he goes, so does our party. If he veers off to far to the left, who will stand for conservative values? As long as I do, somebody does.

Don't believe the 8-11 point Bush bounce that you keep hearing about. Not that I question what Time Magazine would say. (not me, he he). In fact, I believe this poll is accurate in that the people they questioned now favor Bush. However, I wouldn't be suprised to see the numbers drop on this particuliar poll.
I just wouldn't call this poll a convention bounce. Most of those polled in the Time poll were questioned prior to the President's speech. In otherwords, we haven't seen the convention bounce yet. Though it has been me that has said this election is going to be a blowout all along, I am just not confident in these numbers. However, Rasmussen Reports is showing exactly what I have been showing for a couple of weeks, Bush 49% Kerry 45%

Questionaire for polibloggers
I came up with some questions and I would like to hear other polibloggers opinions of. If you would like to take a stab at these questions I would love to hear your answers.
Questionaire for polibloggers
1. Which founding father do you admire the most? Why? - John Adams - Though he was considered by some to be nothing more than an agitator, he was the backbone that lead to the signing of the Declaration of Independence and the American Revolution.
2. What’s your favorite historical quote? - "The only thing necessary for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing."
3. Which President do you admire the most? Why? - The Great Communicator, Ronald Reagan. So many quotes to remember him by, but most notably, 'Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall'. The passing of this president still breaks my heart. The world was alot better with Ronald Reagan in it.
4. What, if anything, would you legalize?-
Marijuana, cigarettes.
5. What, if anything, would you make illegal? - Yugo's - they are dangerous.
6. What is the most admirable thing about John Kerry? - He can really blow a Gerbil.
7. What is the most admirable thing about George W. Bush? - I know where he stands, all the time.
8. Which pollster do you trust? Why? -
Battleground poll - Ed Goeas and Celinda Lake partner together and have a bipartisan poll.
9. How many electoral votes do you think each candidate will win? (538 total) - Bush 470 Kerry 68
10. Favorite political commentator? Why? Rush Limbaugh, he's the great one. Rush Limbaugh is the one political commentator that can keep me glued to my seat, even when I have more important things to do. When Limbaugh speaks, I sit in silence. Nobody shuts me up, except Limbaugh.
11. Who would you rather have a beer with, Bush or Kerry? - Bush, he knows what a beer is. He even knows what Chili is.
Bonus Question
Which candidate will infringe on freedom the most? - They both will take great strides to infringe on freedom, however, I think George W. Bush understands what freedom is better than John Kerry does.

My thoughts on the speech given by the President
Reaction to the first half of his speech
---------------------------------------------------
Socialist.
enough of the socialism.
Okay, you convinced me, you are a socialist.
Ladies and Gentlemen, we have a nominee for the Democrat party....
Seriously, if a Democrat said everything the President just said, I wouldn't like it. I didn't like it much coming from a Republican either.
------------------------------------------------------
Second half reaction
Best line of the speech.....
People sometimes have to correct my English -- I knew I had a problem when Arnold Schwarzenegger started doing it.
Nothing special in what he is saying.
I'd rather have George W. Bush than that other guy.
I like George W. Bush.
Re-elect Bush, we know where he stands. Then after his re-election, fight his socialist agenda.

Thursday night Poll numbers
Earlier I was reminded that Senator Kerry went down to Nicaragua and played nice with a cruel dictator. It also reminded me of Fidel's trip to New York where he recieved a standing ovation led by Rep. Charles Rangel (D-NY). Or that Jesse Jackson made trips to both Nicaragua and Cuba to be near cruel dictators.
We have our politicians, movie stars, and other national figures defend and support the world dictators. Dictators that maliciously murder people, let people starve because they are of different political persuasions, and torture innocent people in order to obtain information. Innocent people give information, often false information, just to stop the torture, only to be greeted with death.
Those figures cause great harm to the life of freedom.
I am reminded of a time before George W. Bush, when Americans received the utmost respect from the world. That respect, when Muslims loved us so much that they approached our Naval Craft called the USS Cole. They loved us so much they left a mark on that ship.
I remember a time that Clinton, who had the respect of world leaders, got a promise from the Korean that they would not build Nuclear weapons. Never mind that they built them, they respected us, so they promised. Did you really expect anything else?
I remember that our borders were so secure under the Clinton administration, that people had to sneak information out of New Mexico. They respected us so much that they wanted to have our knowledge. I guess they don't want it under a Bush administration.
I remember a day that our World Trade Center was bombed, and we did nothing, because we had the respect of the world. Getting the World Trade Center bombed meant that the world respected us.
I remember a day that the world respected us so much, that when our president needed a political distraction, he could go bomb Iraq, and nobody complained.
I remember a day that we had so much respect in the world, that after one of our Blackhawks went down in Somalia, those people dragged our soldiers through the streets, proud to have Americans in their land. They did this out of respect.
We don't have those days anymore. Thanks to President George W. Bush.
Pacifist propaganda usually boils down to saying that one side is as bad as the other, but if one looks closely at the writing of the younger intellectual pacifists, one finds that they do not by any means express impartial disapproval but are directed almost entirely against Britain and the United States …"---1984 by George Orwell

RNC convention Poll numbers...
You see, every single time I fall in line with the Republicans, they go and irritate me again. Today it's the Bush campaign once more and their damn complaints to the FEC. I understand the Bush administrations position on this subject after all they are being out spent 4 to 1 and getting brutalized but so what? Who cares what the fringe left says? Trust the people.
Believe it or not, the people understand what truth is, even when irrational people refuse to see the truth. Think about this, as I say these words you may not believe that the majority of people understand truth. But aren't you also convinced that you, yourself, understands the truth when you hear it? At least you like to think you do.
Are you so much better than the common man that you understand the truth when they don't? Perhaps it us, we, the politicos who refuse to understand the truth when we hear because we are more interested in partisan politics. Maybe that's exactly what politicians depend on, maybe they depend on political blindness because if the truth about them was known it would destroy their career.
Maybe that is Senator Kerry's problem. Is it his reason to shut down criticism of him because there is truth in what the Swift Boat Veterans say? Is there little doubt in Propaganda 911's inneffectiveness to bring down the Bush administration has everything to do with it's disingenuousness? Wouldn't a 90 minute movie of "truth" do more damage to a candidates standing amongst the people than a 30 second commercial of lies? Wouldn't it impact you, a rational thinker? Are you that superior to your fellow man?
So despite being outnumbered in 527 cash, the Bush administration is winning out, not because money matters, but because truth matters. It matters to each one of us. It matters to the people. It matters because in the end truth always wins out.
So why is the Bush administration so anxious to silence the 527's? Perhaps, like Kerry, this administration has something to fear. Sooner or later, the truth will come out.
-------------------------------------------
I also have some other comments I would like to express.... for example in our local mayors race... every candidate wants to give the police a raise, but not one single one of them wants to discuss solutions to decreasing the crime rate.
Something else I want to express, I know that many of my conservative colleagues probably get annoyed with my passion over my beliefs. But it is that passion, it is my expression of my beliefs that keep them alive. If I sat back in silence, my beliefs would die. If we as conservatives sit back in silence and excuse the trampling of our beliefs in the name of Republicanism, or in order to keep liberalism out, then we've already lost the battle. One of the great quotes, and one that I live by was said by Edmund Burke.
"The only thing necessary for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing."

What I fear from the Republicans
Tonight I am passing up the Republican convention, one reason is because I fear I will wake up in the morning and switch parties. The second is that I can watch a movie tonight instead. Most people who know me would be suprised that I forego politics even one night.
But what I fear from the Republican Convention is a more Democrat than thou attitude. It seems to me that the party that I once believed had the answers now seems to be a mirror image of it's supposed opposition without the lunatics. Level headed Democrats should now vote Republican while the extremist wackos should be loyal Democrats.
What the two parties now believe almost parrots each other. They both parade their conservatism around when in the public eye, yet promise and boast how they can make government bigger than the other party.
I fear that over the next three days, that my party, instead of speaking of smaller government, will instead boast how government spends more on this program or that government program that enslaves the poor and calling it compassionate.
I fear that my party, what once was a middle America party, now thinks that it can win liberals by appeasing each liberal scream and forgetting it's base. Like minorities in the Democrat party, conservatives are being taken for granted by the new Republican party. However, unlike minorities in the Democrat party, there is no face up on that New York stage that represents my view.
I understand that this is a big tent party. I accept moderates and even liberals in the party. I accept Ron Silver, who bashed Republicans for years, into our party. I accept Mayor Bloomberg, who set forth antismoking laws, much like they had in Nazi Germany, into our party. And I accept John McCain, who believes speech belongs to people of priviledge.
I can even accept my party, looking to appease liberals, making San Francisco the home of the 2008 Republican National Convention. They could use the theme "Republican P
R
I
D
E
!". Just think how many liberals we can win over, especially if we cover up the conservative face. Don't let Gary Bauer, Rush Limbaugh, Alan Keyes, or any other conservative speak at the convention. Purple is okay as long as it's on a flag, but don't dare pass out Purple heart bandaids at the convention.
Why allow this man back into the convention?

Oh he's not a conservative. Thanks WizBang
The problem isn't that conservatives aren't accepting liberals and moderates, the problem is, there is no place at the table for conservatives anymore. The party wants to go back to the days they played second fiddle to the Democrats. Republicans practice it now and they are in control of things.
I can forgive the party for forgetting the conservative face at the convention, after all, it's just politics. I just hope the moderates and liberals don't rub it in while they have every time slot on stage. Don't tell me how my values have been completely forgotten by the party.
Also, softvote reports that over 22,000 people have downloaded their software. Compare that to 400 people polled, or 1,000 people polled. Who do you believe 400 people or 22,000 people?

Thoughts on Monday's convention
Courage is not the absence of fear, it doing something in spite of fear.
Heroism is doing something, not for the publicity, nor any other accolade, it's doing something because you have too, because your character dictates it so.
One of the things that I thought of tonight as speaker after speaker came to the podium was what true courage and heroism is. These guys did what they did, not because they wanted to make a political career out of it. Heroes commit acts of courage, bravery, and valor because their character dictates it so, they do it because running is not an option. They do things that go beyond the call of duty, they do it because they have too. They don't consider theirselves heroes, they let others call them that. To them, you would have done the same thing.
McCain clearly had the best line of the night when he laid this gem about Mythical Moore..."And certainly not a disingenuous film maker who would have us believe that Saddam's Iraq was an oasis of peace when in fact it was a place of indescribable cruelty, torture chambers, mass graves and prisons that destroyed the lives of the small children held inside their walls."
 Mythical Moore orders more cheeseburgers
Poor Mythical Moore, he even made an L out of his hand so that everybody could see an L on his face. Yeah, I know, he meant to call Republicans "losers". Still, it's not the GOP who is going to spend another 4 years on the outside of the Oval Office.
And Rudae! Ruudae! nicely and aptly pointed out that Kerry switches issues more often than we most of us can keep up with. I also liked the comparison to Churchill and Reagan in the respect of how their opposition treated them.
Conviction - Yeah, I could believe the speakers. Every one of those speakers seemed to be speaking from the heart. I didn't get that feeling while watching the other guys at the other convention.
Respect - For the victims and families of 9-11.
Respect - For the soldiers who are fighting.
Respect - For God and religion. One of the things that I was watching for was at the end of each night. At the Democrat convention, during the closing prayers, most delegates walked out during the closing prayers. I was offended but expected the same from the Republican delegates. Tonight, I noticed that very few delegates were walking out during the closing prayer. It didn't matter what religion it was, it was the respect for it, or lack thereof. Thank you RNC delegates for your respect.
Credit - instead of boasting of the heroism of Bush, they focused on the heroism of more recent heroes.
Tomorrow night the Passion of Christ is out on DVD. I will be buying it and unfortunately won't be doing much blogging tomorrow night. I am going to sit down and watch it, however, I might pause it if I can hear Rnold say "Gurlie man"
Anyway, I will be on long enough to update the poll numbers so you folks can see if the numbers have changed for the better, or worse....
One more thought, the Delegates should, when passing the protestors, "My Gawd, look at your face. What officer brutalized you?" ----Jeffery
See ya then....

RNC Convention -- opening thoughts opening polls
As I sit here and listen to liberals speak to what has become the not-as-socialist-as-the-Democrats Republican party, I wonder if they can convince me to stick with George W. Bush. As I went to work today, the thought continued to race through my mind that maybe it's time that I leave the Republican party behind.
This is not a joke to me, I left the Democrat party and registered Republican because of ideology, not because the Republicans moved to the left. I believed in limited government, states rights, rugged individualism, and the ability of each individual to exceed in their life far greater things than they expected.
I don't believe that people need a government ran healthcare system In fact, I believe that ever since government has gotten involved in the healthcare system, the cost skyrocketed. Had government never stuck their nose in, it would be affordable.
At least the Republicans agree with me on defense of nation and lower taxes, but outside of that, just exactly how does the party agree with me anymore? Did my views change so much that I am no longer a Republican? Did little ole me change my version of what conservatism was over the years? Did the Republican party forget what got them elected to begin with?
I fear that over the next four days that I, we, will be subjected to hear just how wonderful it is to be socialist. I fear that every speaker will boast of how much more money was allocated to this social program and how the government has gotten bigger and better. That thankfully because George W. Bush was elected, the government can change our diapers so well that we should scream praises of greatness.
Many of you are asking yourself, 'why stick with a party you aren't happy with?'
Had John Kerry not been the nomination, I would have left a long time ago. It may be time to leave the party, however, there is no way in H*** that I want Kerry to be president, but what difference does it make?
Yeah, I'm still ****** at the treatment the Swift Boat veterans recieved. Let's not forget Trent Lott, or how Bush stood by Clintons side during his impeachment. What fustrates me so much about Bush is that he doesn't seem to get that there is no compromising with liberals, they don't like him, they hate him, they will never adore him. All the time he panders to the extreme left wing, he forgets about all of us conservatives who voted for him. Yeah, I still have some left to vent but before I finish I will wat this convention closely.
As for the polls numbers, I do get these from Softvote which is internet based so the numbers may not reflect actual numbers and may also have a wide range of vacillation. However, I do find these numbers to be fairly consistent with other polls. If you so chose, you can check the numbers against other polls. I am only focusing on states that I show with a less than 10% differential for the RNC convention.
