You know, there's some things in life I just don't get. One of those things are internet debates. It's something that I constantly find myself in, I simply enjoy it. I like the challenges, in fact, the more people oppose me, the more I savor the moment. I guess I see it as an opportunity to be the only one that's right.
I use different styles at different times. Sometimes I am sarcastic, sometimes aggressive, and sometimes I agree to the point that they can no longer agree with me. Sometimes I lead them into my point. I just have different styles and I don't just turn them on and off like a light switch, I just debate as it goes.
I never spell check in a debate, I just see it, respond, and post. Sometimes I respond before I finish reading the post. Actually, I do that a lot, but I still read the entire post. I don't think about my responses too long, it takes the challenge out of it. I like the real time of it. I jus love the challenge.
But, there are somethings that I don't understand, such as cussing. Why cuss? If you are so intelligent, why undermine your point by cussing? The second is the personal insults. It's one thing to insult an ideology, the way somebody thinks, but to insult their looks? I don't understand why people think that calling somebody they never met ugly. Or wishing Cancer, Aids, or West Nile Virus on them.
And the racial insults, I don't get that either. I mean, I get them, I just don't understand why people think they need to insult a person for their race. I always assume that when somebody is doing any of the above, that I am winning and it doesn't bother me. I have them on the ropes, so to speak.
The funniest two things happened to me in internet debates. Yeah, I guess I'm a geek. First, while debating liberals, I want to win. Not only do I want to win, I want them to feel stupid for disagreeing with me. Okay, that's arrogant, sure but it's my goal.
Some how I made a liberal so mad that he called me, hold onto your seats, a "jerk", what's worse, he wasn't taking it back. Whoa, that floored me. I've been called racist, Nazi, greedy, womyn hater, idiot, and a whole lotta udder words, but never have I been called a jerk.
At first I thought maybe I was losing my touch. Then I thought, no, he must be. He's a liberal, liberals don't call Republicans "jerks". I figured he was trying to think for himself and came with that one all by himself. I actually can appreciate that, but I would have preferred if he would have called me a racist neo-Nazi Republican that enjoys pushing elderly women down a staircase and taking her food stamps away from her. That's something nobody has ever told me, and yet, it's still oh so typical Democrat.
The other one was really interesting, I was being super nice. It wasn't a liberal, it was a conservative. We disagreed so I made it a point to be nice, yet somehow I must have said something to make the guy mad. Next thing you know I'm a profanity laced moron.
So let this be a lessoned learned. Be mean, they call you a jerk. Be nice and you're a profanity laced moron.
